I have a 1980 (11/79) Brat the I am trying to get the steering wheel of of and was wondering if it takes a puller or just remove the main nut and remove? I've been thinking of restoring it and looks like I have found the site to go to! I just came across another Brat (a 1978) at a junkyard that is mostly intact for $400. Uberoo Posted June 22, 2011 Share Posted June 22, 2011 I used to live in pocatello.about 7 years ago now I think. regarding any question about your GEN 1 brat-the best forum would be the historic forum, seconded by the older gen forum because some stuff crosses over. while a 1980 brat is technically older gen most of the powertrain belongs in historic-ie EA71,single range 4wd... cowby327 Posted June 26, 2011 Share Posted June 26, 2011 gday im new at this also ,but the question about the steering wheel what i do in the bush is undo the nut so its flush with the top of the thread sitting in the drivers seat put your both knees under the wheel and apply pressure to the out side of the wheel ,have a brass dolly and hammer belt the shaft top one good hit and shes off hope it works just dont dammage the thread or nut cheers ...rick Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
