AKIRA Posted April 9, 2004 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Well, it happened, I was wrong about a subaru. we were calling to buy a tranny for the loyale and they asked what rear end it had, I said 3.7, thats what all autos have, but dad thought it would be best too check anyway, turns out it is a 3.9:1. how common is it for a auto to have a 3.9? No, 2WDs are 3.70, regardless of being auto or stick. Also, all turbos are 3.70, regardless of being auto or stick.. Also, all 4WD manuals are 3.90, and ALL AUTOS SHOULD BE 3.70, so, perhaps someone put the wrong rear diff in your car, which could be what is wrong with your transmission! The following applies to both EA81 and EA82 cars: From '83 (the year of the first 4wd Auto tranny) to '86 we had: 3.7 rear in all autos, and turbo 5spds 3.9 rear in all non-turbo 4spds and 5spds From '87-'94? we had: 3.7 rear in all turbos 3.9 rear in all non-turbos Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
