can I use a fuel pump from a 92 Loyale on my 94?

Recommended Posts

Fuel pumps are definetly on the pricey side. I don't want to drop $200 for a pump on rockauto. I found a 92 Loyale in a local scrapyard and figured if the parts are interchangeable I might as well swap it out. Can you guys tell me whether this can be done? And is a fuel pump change hard to do?

Hello Rambo, Take a 10mm wrench or shallow socket and a flat head screw driver for the hose clamp.

It's a very easy swap, and yes they are completely interchangeable with sizes, space and pressures. The hardest part will be taking the old hoses off.

If that pump is junk too, you can use a $100 ford truck frame rail mounted pump. You need to adapt the big inlet hose from the loyale tank down to the size of the ford pump inlet, but it's pretty straight forward and they work well. They also rarely go bad, so I've had good luck pulling them off trucks in the junkyard. Look for late 80's F series trucks.
