Ignition timing adjustment issues

Recommended Posts

I set the piston 1 at tdc and the flywheel is then at 0.

Then i put in the dissy so it points at the spring at the hillholder.

Right between the two screws holding the dissy.

And it points at cylinder one sparkplug cable.

Do this again, but this time instead of going by where the rotor points, use the marks on the disty to align.

*****Must be on TDC for #1 not #2*********

You want the Cam markers "out" at 45 degrees pointed away from center of engine, while crank at TDC.     Not "in" at 45s pointing towards middle of engine and eachother.

Once you have TDC on #1, then pull the disty, Find the dot on the gear shaft (not the roll pin)  and tehn align it with the raised mark on the lower edge of the disty housing (just below O-ring)

This is the Subaru proceedure for installing disty.  You can line up the dot, then use paint pen to mark excact spot where rotor points so you can watch and not move it during installation.  *it will rotate slightly as it engages with the gear, that is ok*

If it won't time correctly after that, then perhaps you used an EA81 flywheel?  or installed it incorrect (pretty near impossible)

Update. Well i found out the problem.

As in swdeden we say Handhavandefel (mishandling or personal screw up.)

The setting on the light gun was not set correctly.

Now it runs and timing is right.

But now having this hard starting problem.

At the morning when going to job it crank onte time and start.

One hour later when start it crank crank crank crank crank and then start but runs bad for two seconds.

Like poor fuel delivery.

Cts sensor is new. Maf sensor is changed from a donor car.

What is the most common problem?
