144K to 80K in one easy step

Recommended Posts

I kept getting a speed sensor code on my 87 RX when pulling long hills and accelerating steadily. My parts car is an 88 Turbowagon.

Swapped the gauge cluster from the 88 to the 87 and so far nothing has stopped working, smoked, or caused that wonderful burning smell.

The center section of the cluster with the car outline is swappable so I kept all the indicators for the center lock and low intact.

Now every time I want to know how many miles the car really has on it I'm going to have to do the math.

I had heard that the speed sensor was removable and I could just swap the part, but this was easier and my 2 1/2 year old got to help.

The mileage error won't be a problem because I'm going to drive this one until it dies. Whether it be a sharp, crunchy death or a slow, sputtering one.

So FYI, you can swap gauge clusters from an 88 to an 87.
