I was at one of my local junk yards today picking over the only gen1 Brat they have. I got the Jackman white spoke wheels off it. I was happy enough with that but I had a real surprise coming. I looked at the steering wheel. it was wrapped in one of those old leather covers. It was in bad shape. It just ripped off the wheel. But to my surprise the wheel looked almost new! No cracks, It even still had the grain finish on the wheel. It was not all smooth like all the other ones I have seen. So of course I grabbed it! I thought that was a pretty good find myself.

Thats awsome.. I was at the junk yard also today hot as snot!!! I picked up a few things that I needed to get my old legacy running legal again for inspections.
Hey Subieguy how much crap(tools) in pounds do you carry into the junk yard with you. I have so much that I am going to be getting a military rucsac to stash the tools in considering they are designed for that. We used to carry rocks in our rucs for "practice" or so the military said.

I want to get a nice "off-road" wagon. Not a station wagon or a GL wagon.. but like the kind of wagon you pull your kids around in? with the big meaty pnuematic tires? yeah! Off Road Wagon is the way to go at the junkyards!!

We went yarding yesterday looking for split bench seat for Tim's F-1. Well, while he was getting his seats out, I went poking around.
I found a pristine set of leather buckets in a newer Mercedes that had just come in with a totalled front end... the car still smells new inside... all glass intact. We measured them up... with a little adapting/fabrication and they'll go into the '86 Brat!
$150. for the pair! I saw a set that wasn't anywhere near as nice on eBay for $799. a pair and $499. for a set that I'd throw out!
Oh, I got the paint yesterday... Viper red it is.
