  1. Thanks guys. Not sure why I said Ford Ranger. I know better. But learned something from fairtax and grossdude. Don't feel left out roost, but I want taller suspension. Will look at the King products. Ryan
  2. grossgary: thanks. But how tough/possible would it be to put in say, Ford Ranger struts and trim the springs? I'm willing to work a little to avoid spacers. If it's a stupid idea just tell me:( Ryan
  3. Does anyone make a taller strut/spring. I would be happy with 1.5in lift to clear a better tire. Any thoughts guys? Ryan
  4. I think I got it sorted. I replaced air filter (waaaay overdue) and disconnected the battery for 1hr. Drove it around the hood for 10min. All good. Fingers crossed. Thanks all. Ryan
  5. Any thoughts gents. I disconnected the battery for 15min but no luck. 2007 Forrester 112000 miles. p0506 - idle speed low. Runs normally.
  6. Ok thanks I just changed the fluid. It may have been self inflicted. I lifted it off the ground went lock to lock while revving the motor. Tomorrow morning we shall see........
  7. It almost seems like there is air in the system. Happens when motor is cold. Can the power steering system be bled? Any other ideas welcome. Ryan D.
  8. '97 OBW 170,000 miles. Right turn signal cycles really fast. Both lamps work. Hazards work normally. Is this the flasher? It's getting really annoying. Ryan D
  9. Hey guys dealer said bring it in for replacement. Wow. I am shocked, we are all so conditioned to call the dealer as a last resort!!!!!!!!! Double wow. Thanks, Laterz.
  10. Well it's just a CEL and nothing else. But I gotta fix it because in these a CEL disables the cruise control. It's the wife's car. I'm gonna swap o2 sensors and see what happens but I need to clean this CAT somehow. Ryan
  11. P0420, 2007 FRSTR 65,000 miles (Wifey's kid hauler). I'm chasing the code and was wondering if anyone has tried cleaning their CAT with agressive use of chemicals? IE lacquer thinner, or by removing and physically cleaning. First problem in 65,000 miles so I can't complain but if I gotta buy a CAT I'm gonna be grumpy. Ryan
  12. Thanks Nipper I think I will not worry about this. It's not broken....
  13. Hey guys I received a Tech. Serv. Bltn. for an ECU reflash. The vehicle is an 07 Forrester. Something about cold starting and emissions. It suggested any nearby dealer for free reflash. Anyone else got this and what was the outcome? ((38mpg))!!!!!
  14. I had a bad shudder in my 97 3yrs ago same as you describe. New ignition wires cured it. Ryan
  15. Timing cover has 2 round impressions vs four.
  16. OK guys, I'm not really that dense. It was funny when I typed it though and it"s 2 points for making yourself chuckle when foruming:banana: btw - I've never seen this symptom without a burned out lamp. New one for me. Ryan
  17. Years ago I bought a book called: Automotive Technology, 3rd ed. by Jack Erjavec. Now I'm not gonna kid you this book is a hoss, 1400 pages with twice that many diagrams, and it's not exactly cheap. But I got good use out of it over the years with various rebuilds and swaps. A Hayne's manual is what should be compulsory with any vehicle purchase. Car, motorcycle, boat etc...... Later, Ryan
  18. My right blinker is going about 3x normal speed. Indicators still work, just stupid fast. Left is normal. Does my car have a virus? 97 OBW 160,000miles. Ryan
  19. I pressed the switch once and my virginity came back. I press it every few months or so now.
  20. I had a Mazda B2200 with 180,000 miles (all mine) that would stall with the clutch in. Ran great otherwise in all respects. I pulled my hair out for years trying to solve this. I basically just went to nuetral at stoplights, it became 2nd nature. I sold the truck when I started a family. I often wondered later if the clutch was somehow not disengaging all the way and loading the engine at idle. Maybe try seeing if your car is doing something like this. That's all I got...
