Is there a way to get more cold air under the hood?

I did not drill hole above where the filter drops in. If you look insinde the airbox, there is a hole about halfway down to the flat part. I cut out the flat/rounded bottom and drilled holes in the sides and just above the hole that brings air in from the wheel well.

Sounds pretty easy. I have a 91 Loyale, maybe that will help you figure out what kind of engine I have. Should I replace the distributor and plugs/wires? Is this something that's hard to do? Also, do I need to disconnect the battery?

How hard is it? Can I do it myself? Can someone walk me through it? What tools are needed and where exactly is it on the engine?

Another question: Should I disconnect my battery to re-set my ECU?

Well, I did the airbox mod this afternoon... I cut the bottom of the lower half completely out and I drilled a bunch of holes in either side and above the stock intake hole. The first thing I noticed is that my exhaust(Magnaflow) is louder. I also noticed that is has more pep and I'm able to accelerate and pull hills better. Over all, a definite improvement!

Just so I have this straight... I am supposed to cut out the BOTTOM of the airbox. Not one of the sides? By bottom, you mean the side that faces the ground, right?

I'm currently running a K&N filter and a Magnaflow exhaust on my 91 Loyale. I'm thinking about opening up the air box to get some more air flow. Where exactly should I open it up? Does anyone have any pics of this mod?
