  1. my ea82 3at has a trans quirk. i'm sure your thinking that it is the well documented governor, done that. when i bought it it came with a reconstructed title and i see that the computer is from another 92 that was a 5 speed. (writen in yellow paint pen on the underside of the unit like it came from a bone yard) it will not kick down from drive into 2 and also tries to over-rev 1 and then go dirrectly into drive. could this be due to the computer being from a standard? i would think that it would be from a vacuum problem. suggestions? thanks

  2. it's a manual, the only thing that i can think is do i have to pull the clutch fork? i didn't think u had to do that when seperating the two but i have never pulled one with a manual before. i took the six bolts out of the pressure plate, or atleast that's what i think it is, by going throught the starter hole and rotating the engine over. any ideas?

  3. finally got around to pull the engine on the justy. for some reason i can only get the block about and inch/inch and a half apart from the bellhousing. the engine will pivot from rad support to firewall and i have tried several different angles for the lift. :banghead: is there something I'm missing?

  4. most all justy's that i have ever seen in a bone yard have between 95 and 115k on them. i believe one of the main reasons for this is that it is such a pain in the @#$% to change the oil filter. the only thing "bad" about the justy's are those with the ecvt transmissions. (flawed by design) however some people have good luck with them, i have a 2wd ecvt in my parts car that works great and that has about 90k on it i think. be warry of any leaks as the gaskets for them are big $$$$. also the body style switched in 89 and alot of the 89-94 parts will interchange but there are some that are 89 only. hope that helps.

  5. did some searching and didn't find what i was looking for. have a '92 loyale with auto belts. the passengers side has decided to stop working now. i would think that it is something simple because it worked up until just a bit ago, luckily it is stuck in the back position. it seems as though it might be in the latch part itself as the dash will ding at me if the belt isn't physically pulled to be down toward the floorboard. is there anyway to check the latch itself? the little woman has a '93 legacy with em and they work rather the belt is latched or not. is there any way to reset them? i tried 'wiggeling' the control unit wires located in the trunk but all seemed good. thanks for your input. Mark

  6. picked up a loyale and i thrilled to death with it. for the first time tonight i decided to see if it would really run. it is a 1.8 3 speed auto. it's turning about 3 grand at about 55 or 60 and i wanted to see what it had in reserve. the tach shows the redline at 65 but at about 90-95 and about 5 grand it seemed to die/shut down. i have a 90 beretta gt that shuts down at 106 but is alot more noticeable. just wondered if maybe i wasn''t getting enough fuel i.e. fuel filter or if it has a speed/rev limiter?

  7. yup, mine is pretty close, bracket is just a touch different i think. i was going to rob a couple of bolts of my justy parts car but didn't find the right ones right off. the littler one is a 10mm i think but has to have really short threads or it will hit the a/c housing. guess i'll just wait till i get to the bone yard. thanks all for your help

  8. anyone know what that "sensor" that bolts above the a/c compressor does? i think that it would measure the revolutions that the a/c is turning by sensing the little 'tangs' on the front of the compressor. when i bought the loyale it just layed back near the spare tire. i am 99% sure that is where it bolts. tired the a/c with it off (can't find the bolts and haven't been to the bone yard yet) and nothing. thanks

  9. YES THE RS IS A 'TIRM' OPTION. BUT THE FIRST GEN IS ONLY 87 AND 88. I HAVE AN 89 RS. MINE HAS THE CARB 1.2 5 SPD A/C AND A FACTORY TAPE PLAYER MOUNTED SEPARTELY FROM THE RADIO (DOWN INFRONT OF THE STICK SHIFT). I ALSO HAVE A 90 MPFI WITH AN ECVT FOR A PARTS CAR. I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT PUTTING THE MPFI OVER ONTO THE 89. ANYONE DONE THIS IN A JUSTY? EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT INCLUDING THE A/C SO I DON'T WANT TO COBBLE ANYTHING.

  10. the cylinder heads are where most of the potential power lies. given the same perameters. (cubic inch, compression, fuel) the problem is that most do not have access to a flow bench. i would try port matching the exhaust. you do not want to do this to the intake side as it will create more of a puddling effect. just a suggestion. good luck
