  1. Good morning all!! I am having a problem my heater inmy 05 Sub Legacy with 195K on it. Seems when I use the heat to blow on the face, the driver's side is warm, passenger side COOOOLLLD! I thought initially I had a window cracked, but nope. Any ideas or suggestions???
  2. You are awesome! The part is $46 at my dealer...found it online for as low as $35 but the shipping was $10.. Thanks again!
  3. sorry i forgot to tell ya that in my original post... now i'm scared..yes 05 legacy (181K miles).....how much is THIS going to cost me? I thank GOD my husband was a mechanic for 25 years or else this car woulda been gone a longggg time ago! can't wait to hear your reponse..thanks again!
  4. Hi guys -- for some reason my passenger seat is beeping even though no one or anything is on the seat...I have to buckle the belt to get it to stop. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!
  5. Hi guys!! I am having SEVERE wheel bearing problems. Since Jan 07, I have replaced all 4 and I about to replace another one. I did get reimbursed from Subaru for 2 of them over the summer, because of a defect but that's it. Thank goodness my husband is able to fix these, but we were only able to get them from the dealer at $150 a shot. I've found them online now a Timken brand for $100 no shipping fee. Anyone else had such a severe problem? If so, how did you fix it or what do you do about it?
  6. thanks, he called today and is getting reimbursed for 2 wheel bearings and he will have to find receipts and possibly get reimbursed for the 2 front ones....but right now they are saying the recall is only the rear....
  7. Hi guys -- I got a letter today from Subie telling me that because of probs with the wheel bearings (they may develop a noise condition that causes a whining sound) yeah no @#$## I have that!!! So they are offering to extend my warranty to 8 yrs or 100K, ok well I shot that outta the water, being as I am at 140K and it's just 3.5 yrs old, so I am wondering if they will give me anything for the ones I have had to replace. Thank GOD my fiance is a mechanic so there was no labor charges, but hell the bearings are costing me $150 a shot at the DEALER because I can't find them elsewhere. Anyone else had this problem? Or heard about this letter from Subie? Just curious. PS - I've replaced 4 since Jan 07, 2 front 2 rear
  8. i just posted this on another thread...i have an 05 with 128k miles and i think mine has gone bad too. i'm calling the dealer today to find out the cost and then my mr goodwrench will do it boy does that save a lot of $$ i HATE paying the dealer.... that said -- i love my subaru, but really dislike how so many of the parts are proprietary....i really dislike that!
  9. Thanks for the response, fiancee didn't catch the code unfortunately. Is it about this mileage where I would have a problem with the converter?
  10. i think it might have been me that you are referring to. I had this problem and even contacted the dealer who unless they saw the problem had no idea what i was talking about so i came to this great board where i have gotten some great help and the guys here told me it was that illuminator thing....if you adjust your dial it brightens/dims your display and you'll see ill.1 or ill.2 whatever it is in your display and it still appears from time to time on me and mostly only during the winter is when i notice it, usually 1st thing in the morning when i leave home, now i leave about 415 or so each morning and it's usually 30is or so degrees in the winter, don't notice it in the winter...so who knows kinda sad when you can't get a straight answer from a dearler...i hate my local dealer here and avoid them at all cost! thank goodness my fiance is my mr goodwrench .. hope this helps!
  11. Hi guys, it's me again Hope you all had a great holiday! I have a question....I have gotten the check engine light twice now. Got it checked today and was told it was the rear oxygen sensor was showing high oxygen content coming out of the catalytic converter. My husbands friend at the shop told me that the dealer has told him a few years ago that switching gas may solve the problem. He has in the last 2 years replaced at least a 6 catalytic converters to resolve this issue, he also said that only OE Subaru converters will solve the problem; he has been bit in the butt by using aftermarket converters and gets high oxygen content on the rear 02 sensors. I have 128K miles on my 05 Legacy (that I purchased 8/04 (don't faint). Does this sound legit and has anyone else had to replace one yet? Thanks for your help as always!
  12. I'm just saying...for all the $$ ya spend on the car, would it kill them to add the darn filter??? I have 109K in 2.5 yrs on my Legacy, I am real anxious to see what that filter looks like when I change it. The book recommends 15K but you said 30K; is 15 too soon?? Thanks, you guys are great!
  13. Well, I finally got my filter changed. Get this -- it never had one installed from the factory! The housing was there, but they didn't even put in a freakin filter! Thanks Subaru! And the filter cost me $40 for a "treated filter" that was nothing more than pleated cotton! Well, it's in there, can't tell much of a difference though. Also -- is it a standard Subaru thing that each time you get parts you need your VIN number? EVERY SINGLE TIME I get parts, they ask for the VIN and in the times they haven't asked for the VIN, I've gotten the wrong parts. So, I don't get anything without a VIN now, I was just wondering if this was a standard Sub thing.
  14. thanks, yes i have an 05 legacy...funny how the manual says to contact the dealer! my guess is so that they can charge $150 to change it!
  15. Hey guys....it's me again with another question. My boyfriend just found out that I have some kind of "inside" air filter. I thought I had one but never found it, so now he actually "read" the manual and found out that I do have one...but now the question is WHERE is it? How does he get to it? I called the dealer and they want $40 for this @#$# filter, is it worth it? What does it do anyway?? Thanks again!!
  16. I GOT THEM!! 1 day shipping, no extra charge! GO Chuck N Eddies!! Seats are like new, smell GREAT and fit like a glove! You guys are awesome, thanks for the advice!!
  17. well i ordered my seats today (thanks Chuck N Eddies, in CT)! Should be here in a day or 2! gotta tell you I found a seat in WASH State for $150 and $150 for shipping, found the same seat in SC for $275 and $125 for shipping, meaning shipping is only $25 MORE coming from WASH state? Sounds like something is a little screwy with shipping charges, just thought you all might want to be aware since it looks like you guys order from everywhere. oh i can't wait to get my seats...i feel like i'm driving in the inside of a coke can
  18. thanks but i don't think it will ever dissipate, it's in the foam seat and the fabric....i tell you subarus are killer when it comes to proprietary items i can't even get the fabric from them!
  19. thanks! you guys are great! i found a guy in CT what has it for 275 + 75 to ship in good condition....he was the ONLY one out of about a dozen places i called this morning. for grins i called the dealer, i swear they are smoking crack over there...they wanted $570 for cover and pad for the bottom and $588 for the cover and pad for the back AND I have to take off the old stuff off the hardware and put on the new stuff!! i just worry about getting it from a junkyard that's not local and i can't see it but this guy in CT told me that he wouldn't see it if it was bad but he told me that i couldn't get a picture of it either...i will call pams now, they just told me they won't guarantee the seats because they've been sitting in the yard all winter
  20. thanks for the search results...i will be calling around today! you guys are great
  21. thanks....my boyfriend got the seat out this morning (sad the fumes were horrible inside) and it's an 05 legacy (not GT) i have a few places to call tomorrow so i hope something should come up i just worry that because it's so new it may be difficult
  22. i was thinking of maybe an upholstery shop?? i found a few junk yards in my area i will call on monday
  23. Thanks...having trouble finding them, but I am still looking Maybe I am not using the right search term? I'm using rear seat and just seat but i get a lot of seat belts
  24. i've been searching online for the last hr with no luck...i guess i could go to my local subaru dealer and get one ordered but i am sure it's gonna cost me big time!! any idea what the cost of a seat is? i am wondering if it's just worth it to file the insurance claim.. thanks!
  25. Hey guys!! It's me again and I got another problem. My dumb @@@ today spilled gasoline on my back seat. I went to a detailer and had it cleaned (so then it smelled like orange citrus) for about 2 hours, came inside and went back out and OMG it's horrible. I am going to be giving this car to my daughter and I am about to have a new granddaughter anyday now. I can't drive it this way and I have someone who can install a new rear seat for me, but it's a matter of WHERE do I get one? Any ideas or suggestions? I'm not going to try the remedies online about removing gas smell, I know it will never be gone. Anything you all know, I'd really appreciate! Thanks!
