The owner's manual for my 1999 outback sport says that I have a 15.9 gallon gas tank. However, my brother feels that becuase of the amount gas I put in the first time I filled up (just got it last week), it is the 13.2 on regular Imprezas. Not that it really matters which it is, but we're both just kind of curious if the owner's manual is wrong. -kevin

I wish i could figure out my mileage. I forgot to reset the trip odometer after i filled up, so I have no clue. This was the first time the CEL came on for about 5 months, same code like I said. I'll let it go til it comes on again, then i'll get it checked out. And by the way, i didnt put too much stock into what the autozone guy said, no worries there. -kevin

My 1999 legacy has given me that code twice (PO420 i believe). both times i've just had it reset and all has been well. My local subaru garage said its nothing to worry about, as they can be sensative to the smallest things (getting splashed with water, etc...). WHen i had the code read at auto zone, the guy who did it said something about putting a tank of premium in it, then going out and "opening up." I of course have no objection to this, but wonder what his reasoning for it might be? -kevin

i never really noticed how slow my windows were...until 10 minutes ago, when i realized that it was raining, and all 4 windows plus the sunroof was down... that kind of brought the slow windows into light. kevin

Would the titanium SPT knob thats in the catalog fit on mine? It says it fits on the Impreza from 98-05, but I can't imagine how much different it could be...

The shift boot on my 99 legacy sedan making an otherwise cosmetically sound interior look bad. I was wondering where I could get a new one, and what it would take to put it on. I also figure, while I'm at it, I might want to get a new knob all together, since I saw a few in the SPT catalog that looked pretty fancy... I'm sure its not that hard, and if its beyond my level of do-it-yourself-ing (which is highly likely), it won't be too expensive for my local garage (not dealer) to throw it on. theres a place called Orbach's in Denver, its 2 brothers, who also go by Dr. Subaru or the Subaru Doctor. i'll get a number if you're interested. it might not be that bad of a trip either, becuase its only about 5 miles from the Denver turnpike exit.

gave the garage a call, and they say its the o2 sensors, and they'll replace them when they do the clutch on the 22nd. until then...i have the acceleration capablilites of my 1991 toyota tercel with the gas mileage of a ford excursion...

just got back from autozone, heres what they said. if anyone knows the extent of these problems, please let me know The oxygen sensors monitor the Catalytic converter's ablility to store oxygen Probabal Causes: 1st-Catalytic converter defective (i know thats pretty costly) 2nd-Engine misfire or running condition 3rd- Large vacuum leak 4th-Engine oil leakage into exhaust valve , guide seals, piston rings it seems to be running fine, no weird nosies, even from the exhaust, which makes me think that its not the Cat. but ANY help ASAP would be greatly appreciated, PM or email me (XSKI712@att.net) with any info. thanks

just in the process of daily driving, my check engine light has come on. its a 1999 legacy 30th ann. sedan, with a bit over 120,000 miles. the engine temp is normal, and there arent any sounds or smells that are out of the ordinary. i was wondering if this had anything to do with the fact of it being sub freezing for the majority of the day. the clutch is getting replaced in 2 weeks, and is slipping pretty badly. after some research i found something that said it might have something to do with ice forming somehwere in the transmission, not sure exactly what it meant. i also found it might just come on every 60,000 miles? thanks

just got my 1999 legacy 30th ann. sedan, with a list of 10 things the dealer did to it before sale (belts, etc..). so driving it for the first time (i wasnt allowed to test drive, being a minor) and about 10 minutes into my drive, the clutch slips in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear. and its at 120,000, so it was kind of expected, but a kick in the nuts none the less, after much anticipation. other than that, its an incredible car...

my 1991 toyota tercel just rolled over 135,000, and outside of a little burning oil and some holes in the exhaust, i'd venture to say that it will keep running for a long while. its on the market, if you're not too far, makin the upgrade to a '99 legacy 30th ann.

I'm looking at a 1999 Legacy L 30th aneversery with a sunroof. I was wondering what sort of roofrack I could get that would fit, and also, could/should i get it from subaru, or from a company like Thule. also, any extra info about this model would be good to hear... thanks
