How so is the car designed to be crashworthy as-is??? Without the airbag won't i hit the steering wheel if i by chance am in a collision or something??? I am just trying to figure out my options as to if I ever am in an accident. Thanks. . .

I have a Subaru '87 4WD Turbo Wagon. I was just wondering does my car have air bags, like in the steering wheel??? Because I don't see the usual SRS sign or anything. . . Did the subarus of the 80s come with air bags??? And also what can I do to add one??? If at all, can I change the steering wheel and if so where can I look for one??? Thanks, KNIGHT RIDER

I have a 1987 Subaru GL-10 4WD Turbo. THe previous owner had A/C work done. The thing I didn't know was the R12 fiasco or else I would have asked him on the spot. But now I don't have any way of contacting him. I would like to know if it still is an R12 or if he converted it to an R134A system. Is there any tests that I can do to determine which one is in there??? Please help me thanks. And also where are exactly the A/C parts in the engine?? Thanks, KNIGHTRIDER

True, however how come in the background you can see the km??? I haven't found a button as of yet either, but if it is in the background there has to be a button to turn it on. . . At least, that's what I would think. Maybe other people have found it??

Hey All, I have an '87 GL-10 Turbo 4WD Station Wagon and have an Digital Dash. I was wondering how do you change MPH to KM/H, because I can see the KM/H, but just don't know how to switch it on. I have looked in the manual, but can't find anything to tell me to change it. A side note question, why did they change the dash to that green one starting '87 from that orange looking one from before?? Well, thanks for your help hatchsub. I have everything fixed and working, but the only thing that remains is the radio working at ACC, my mechanic told me since its an old car it doesn't have that feature or something along those lines. Maybe you guys at this board can help me with your expert wisdom and also whether or not you had these problems too. :-\

Hi, everyone. My problem is I just installed an aftermarket Radio. The First problem i have is that when i put my key to ACC it won't turn on, it will only turn on when it's on ON or START. Another problem is that all the stations I store erase everytime i turn off the car and come back to it. I need to specifically know about wiring for a 1987 Subaru GL-10 4WD Turbo Station Wagon. Please help. . .

Thanks, for the quick response. Yeah, those are the ones I have and you answered another question, because now I know what those black covers are for too. . lol:lol: . Yeah, every other lights work on the car, I just recently replaced the headlights with the Sylvania Silverstars and they work fine, not that they were ever a problem. So, i would have to take each light off manually and replace the bulbs, that's cool and i'll check the fuses which you said would be in the headlight area in where the engine is, right. Cool, thanks I will do that tomorrow and hopefully they will be working by tomorrow.

1. If you mean the fuse box, yes i have checked them and they seem to be in working order. 2. Yes, when I hit the switch i hear a click. Not sure about the key thing. I only hear the click when i hit the fog light switch. 3. What do you mean the ground??? No, pics i will try to get them up sooon though. THanks for the quick response. I have a 1987 Subaru GL-10 4WD Turbo Wagon with pneumatic height control. . . I have what I believe are the stock fog lights. . . I was wondering if they don't turn on could it be the bulbs??? The right one used to work but now none of them work. If so how do I get down there to change my fog light bulbs??? It doesn't look like you can take the covers off. . Is there a possibility that it can be a full-time or awd drive if it doesn't say it??? Like can you find out by VIN number or something??? Thanks John. . . I didn't clarify it but only the back portion of the car goes down, the front is fine . . . As long as I use the car regularly it doesn't happen, but let's just say if I didn't use it for two or more days the back portion of the car would be down.
