  1. I need to know how much and what kind of fluid goes into my 78 brat 4 speed transmission. Just checked the level and it is almost empty. Help me out guys! Thanks.
  2. Ok, I was at the wrecking yard yesterday and I found a set of pugs still on the car. Good shape too! I was wondering if they would fit on my 78 brat. I am asking this because I tried to put some stock steel rims off my 88 XT that I junked on it. The back wheels did not have the clearance to roll. So I was wondering if the pugs would work or would I have to modify something on my brat to make them work.
  3. Ok, I need to know how many quarts of oil a 78 brat holds. Would be helpful since I need to change the oil that has been in it for 10 years! Thanks.
  4. Can any body tell me if gen 2 brat jump seats will fit in a 79 brat? Looking for some for my 79. Not sure if any other years past 80 will fit or not. Thanks.
  5. Guess I will try and change the sending unit. If it don't work I guess it's the gauge. If I need another one I can get one out of my other XT at the junk yard. At least I know it worked. And no, the engine now runs smooth and quiet. Even feels like it has a little more pep in it too. Thanks for the input guys.
  6. I just replaced the oil pump, oil pump seals, crank and cam seals and timing belts on my 88 XT. The car has 194,000 miles on it. I have had it for 3 years now and I finally decided to do some real work on it. When I got it the car never had oil pressure and it had that typical lifter noise. After changing the oil pump and the other parts it seems to run much better. No more lifter noise. Just no oil pressure still. Could it be the sending unit? Or maybe the gauge itself in the dash. The sending unit appears to be the original unit. Can anyone help me out here. Thanks.
  7. Thanks! As soon as I did that it fired right up! Thanks again. Guess I won't have to junk my XT after all.

  9. Ok, Maybe I should not have tried this but I never had changed timing belts before but I just did it on My 88 XT. While I was at it I changed the crank and camshaft seals and replaced the oil pump and seals. When I took the belt off the right side of the engine I turned the gear on that side a little. I moved it back to the spot where I thought it was and completed my work. I only went as fas as putting the belts back on just in case the car would not start. Of course when the time came it would not start. It will just sit there and crank. I have spark and the gas is getting there it just will not turn over. I have to admit I don't have the greatest tools but I thought I could do it. The chilton manual sure does not give much help in how to do this. Just wondering if anybody can give me some advice on what I might be able to do. I figured if anybody could maybe give me some advice maybe you guys could. Thanks.
