  1. Who cares what car the lezzies drive, I wonder what they do with the BIG DOG in back??
  2. I have used "BERRYMAN" fuel system cleaner, and its cheap and works. If you have a stuck valve, your in trouble. I had one on my 47 cessna one day. Landed at an airport, took off the valve cover, trickled gas on the valve stem while tapping the valve stem with a hammer. It freed right up. If you have problems like this, learn to change your oil on time, and youll stay out of trouble!
  3. My 1963 CORVAIR never had a knock sensor, and ran for years cheaply. These are "designed in" expenses the buyer isnt aware of until after the purchase.:-\
  4. In my 1988 XTowners manual it says the compression ratio is 9.5 to one. I dont believe it. The manual says to run 87 octane gas. Thats not logical. Years ago you couldnt run such crummy gas in a car with that ratio without it knocking badly. Who knows what the ACTUAL, not book compression ratio is? Many thanks, Subaru Chuck
  5. I tried this same sort of idea a few months back on my 88 xt 1800 engine. I broke off the needle, as the poor design keeps the owner from greasing the bearings. I merely worked moly grease with my finger past the seals, until I felt a drag on the units, and they turn smooth and quiet. Who out there has a line on these idlers at a fair price?
  6. YES, after removing the front end!!! I always put the belts on and start it up with the covers off, so I can verify its running correctly. Then button it up. I pack the idler bearings by hand with grease, before putting them back in service. New ones from subaru are a rip off.
