  1. I was wondering if there's a aftermarket carb for my 76 dl fwd 1400?
  2. hmm dang, that sounds not so good. Can I just tel my putting the timming belt back on and see if it runs? thanks, Austin
  3. That was kind of a confusing response. The Plastic sprocket Did break..yes, the actual timming belt was not broken but damaged, I could reuse it but dont want to chance it. I say the car was Not moving because someone told me if the timming belt breaks while the car is moving it may cause damage.. My original question was..Is the Engine a NON-Interference engine?
  4. well, the suby hit a ditch smashed in the light pushing and breaking into the timming belt and broke passenger side cam sprocket gear's top and bottom. Ive read throught the haynes manual and found it doesntexplain the professes of putting the timming belt back on and where to set all the camshafts. does anyone know how to go about this? Ive done one before, but not on a dual camshaft.. also by chance does anyone have extra camshaft gear top and bottom for timming belt that I can buy? someone also said that it could be a interference engine possibly causing piston to bend valves.. is this true on this engine? car was not moving when it hit and broke. thanks! Austin
  5. well, it fits fine..and tis an ea82.. this is true, when I took out a front axle and put it in 4wd (rear wheel drive) it worked alright, You could still here it but wasnt violent
  6. ok, so when I let off the gas and its still in gear, it proceeds to make violent loud shaking, if its in neutral theres no problem. putting it in 4wd makes no difference, maybe slightly more viloent but not enough to notice. I did check rear drive shafts and everything from the front to back. even walked with it while it was driving slow. As far as I can tell it sounds like its coming within the tranny. "WOuld it bind up and make the car lurch and jump with loud clicks and metallic noises?" yes it does this but not a CV click its a Boom click. liek u see the car shake with the boom. (People stare at me going down the street, Weirdos) I dont think the diff would effect even if swapped out cuz it does it when its not in 4wd. I tried this though today.... I jacked the front end up with a couple of jacks and started it up and put it in first gear and let the wheels Idle in the free air ( This is a Subaru diagnos technique, I think and so it still does it.. Almost like theres somthing in tranny like a bad gear. though it does it in all gears. ( I know its not the CVs.. no noise is coming from them and theyre new!) Ive had bad cv's and ran them with a different sub till one blew. Im familiar with the CV noise. I dident do the engine swap, I bought the baby from 100 bucks and I repair the head gaskets. any idea?? thanks for the help so far!! Austin
  7. yea its a ea82 modified, Im 100 percent positve its not the CV's, I've had subarus with bad cv clunk noise. it's Violent makes the car jump.
  8. Ok, so I have a early brat with a EA82 engine. engine runs great, but I have an issue with I believe is the tranny. Its not the CV's and not the drive terrain. it makes this violent clunk when I engage and tranny. It coast's smooth and quiet, I checked CV's and rear drive axels's nothings hitting or rubbing. when I had my buddy drive it slow I ran next to it and sounds like its comming from the tranny. when u go over 30 mph, its so loud and violent I cannot drive it... It gets a bit hairy. any idea what it would be..
