PLUS, I have a couple of XT6's, which will be for 5 stud swaps at some stage and a few other parts XT's and Brumby's around the place.

And my 1983 Brumby, with a 2007 EJ20 AVCS and electronic throttle control, run by a Link G4 ECU, 3 inch lift with 27.5" Kumho's, 88 RX AWD box with centre diff lock, Hi / Lo and a LSD rear end.

Sorry to resurrect an old topic, Between multiple big earthquakes, rebuilding lives, homes etc it's taken ages to get back to the forum, but Yo'J asked to see it, so here you go.
Been running that engine now for many years, a Link G4 ECU was the answer. -
Hey Guys and Gals,
Been a while since i posted here, prob back in 06 when i did the EJ22 swap into my 83 Brumby most likely.
Well after a number of years of good service, I'm now replacing the EJ22 with a 2007 EJ20 DOHC AVCS N/A, (some of you will know why
)Anyway, I'm lacking a immobilizer wire diagram, mainly the key barrel antenna wires, they were removed from the plug and now i'm stuck finding which pins they go on.
Any help would be great, It's NZ New, which is basically JDM, but to be honest USDM would proabaly help me out too.
Also, if anyone has complete wire diagrams for this motor, it would help me out, as mine are currently incomplete and i'm guessing a little on some items.

They came with a single driver side (right hand side) mirror on the door.

I love my RX, twin carbs rock!
These Gen 1 RX's were only available in NZ for a very short period it seems (around 6 months or so) before they went to the newer EA82 shape in 84.
A famous New Zealand rally driver by the name of "Possum Bourne" used to race one for the Subaru team back in 83 and did pretty well in NZ and Australia rallies...

Yea, they are both "factory" units.
I'm really looking to preserve the torque of the motor. Will either do better towards that goal?

Hey team,
I've had an EJ22 in my 83 Brumby for a good 5 months now, with no real problems to speak of, in fact i'm pretty damn happy with it.
I've been running it with the headers that came with the 1994 SOHC EJ22 when i got it (pic "exhaust 1") and they have been attached to the exsisting 2.5" custom exhaust i had fitted to my previous EA81T motor from about the gearbox back, but it was never "set up" to my liking , just to get it running type thing.
This weekend, i'm re-routing and re-mounting the exhaust into it's final position and i've also picked up a different set of headers (pic "exhaust 2").
It's got me wondering, which is really the better option? "exhaust 2" looks like it might be the better option? but is in fact from a earlier model EJ20 (1992 ish). If it's earlier, would it be possible that the later 1996 EJ22 header is a better design? My 1996 HX-20S has the same headers as the one's in Pic 1.
What do people think?

they did sell the EA81 coupe in the states didn't they? They had the Turbo traction model too, just not the twin carb model? the turbo model actually had less HP than the Twin carb though, probably due to all the emissions crap you guys have to have.
Kiwi subbie, i've never seen another EA81 RX in NZ, coupes yes, but not an RX.

mmm, a NZ meeting would be good.. but i'd want to take along all of my subbies! I recon 1983's still count as "old school" aye...Are there many owners in New Zealand with pre-80's?My oldest is a 1980 two door 4WD hatchback, then this 81 Brat, a 83 brumby with a EJ22, 83 two door 4WD hatchback and 83 Twin Carb RX 4WD Coupe.I'll have to get this Brat tidied up and reg'd + warranted before it's going back on the road, but i'm hoping to start on it next week, once i roll a 1986 brumby (i've restored for a mate) out the doors of the workshop.

Yea, i can try, I don't have a scanner and it's pretty faded.. but we'll see how it turns out.i thought that ute was a bargain for $50 NZD and a few swap parts!

Hey guys,I just picked up my latest subbie, towed it home.It's an 1981 Gen 1 Brat, it had been parked up for four years due to the clutch being worn out. It's in damn fine condition and started right up and with a bit of adjustment to the clutch, it drives fine... damn what were the people thinking?I have the original purchase document and owners manual in the glove box.. that kind of thing is always cool to have. You can see the one bit of damage on the front fender, but thats easy to fix, plus it has some surface rust to be tidied up...

The XT is an factory Auto, I do have a spare Manual and XT interior parts to suit, but I prefer to drive Auto's these days lol. It's also a car i drive whenever i can (once a week at least) , although it's not my daily, so the underside can stay that "dirty" for a while
