  1. Ok so the gear lever doesn't enter the top of the tranny, thanks.... Anyone know what prevents it from pulling straight up into your hands?
  2. I have a 2000 OBW w/ a 5 speed manual. 3 weeks ago we had our clutch replaced, then a couple days ago our gear shift lever pulled out of the tranny. I can put the gear lever back into place but it won't stay in place. For example when you out it into 1st it will pop the rubber boot out of the top of the tranny, there must be some kind of retaining clip that is missing, broken or was not put back in after the clutch job/ Any ideas? Has anyone else seen this?

  4. Hey all just hoping for a bit o friendly advice. Started my 89 suby dl 4x4 wagon and a bang sound came from under the hood and a puff of smoke followed!! The car starts but there are very loud rapping noises coming fromn the engine, it kind of sounds like a lawnmower, but it will rev up. I know I needed a valve job, for instance when I would get the car on a slant blue smoke would start billowing out of the exhaust pipe ( I think that was the valves). The engine is very loud and rough sounding now, and there is definately a metal tpo metal sound. If I pull the spare tire out and pop off the little timing belt cover could I tell if the belt is shot? Thanks for any advice!!!
  5. I have an 1989 push button 4WD and I really want to convert to D/R Do i need to change my gear ratios, will a LSD from an RX work in my car?

  7. The yard in your area has a good ammount of SooB parts?!! If you have their # I would like to call them and if they have a Dual Range. I would drivre up there to get it!! I live in Santa BArbara.
  8. Thanks, I'm switching from a single range to dual range. Will I need to get the same year dual range? (89) Are Turbo trannies and non-turbo trannies the same gearing ratios?
  9. Anybody know a good pick n pull or have any knowledge of where to find a dual range transmission in california? I am actually in Central CA. I just talked to aguy in texas that says he imports these trannies from japan w/ 30,000 mi for $295? A little steep for me!
  10. Is it possible to change my 89 single range DL to a dual range? It would have to be an EA82 dual range right? I have a 5 speed now? Thanks!!
  11. The GL D/R bolts right IN!!!!!! What is D/R ? is that the transfer case that gives you hi and lo range? Thats awesome if that's the case!!! I would definately keep this car if I could do that!!
  12. Just wondering what I should check out? How much is a turbo to fix? Can you get replacements? I should make sure there isn't the typical knock in the engine? I really want a Dual range wagon so I can get it set up to take me where I want to go!!
  13. I am more looking for a little clearance up front. But I want to do it cheap b/c my sub is only a single range, I'm saving for a dual range. Do you know if it's hard to fix a broken turbo? Or how much to get them fixed? Are they somewhat easy to find ?

  15. Can I get away with putting in some taller shocks nin to achieve a little bit of ground clearance for my 88 dl wagon?
  16. Thanks Guys!! I just want to put some better rims on my suby. I do some light off roading but I only have single range capabilitites. Hopefully to change soon. Saab had some 4 lug patterns probably a bit different pattern though!!!
  17. I just am wondering what 4 blot lug patterns are out ther will fit these cars? Any suggestions would be great!! Thanks
