  1. Thanks I will give that a try.
  2. Just purchased an 86 gl, the blower motor works intermittently. Checked for power at the motor, appears to be a problem with power coming in to the motor. I have traced the wires from the motor back and find no obvious shorts, what else should I be checking, is there a relay that could cause this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Thanks for the info, sounds like you can't go wrong with that engine.
  4. Hello All, I am loking at an 84 GL wagon on CL, I have had several cars with the EA82 engine but none with the EA81. Was trying to find out if any bad about the EA81, parts easy to get?, I am assuming they are easy to work on. Just in general what to be loking for in that model of car. Thanks, Shawn
  5. Looked through the USRM and only found info on old gen seat swapping. Was wanting to know if anyone knows what would be entailed in swapping seats from a 98 Forester into a 93 Impreza, or if they would even fit, size wise. Thanks
  6. It's AWD wagon, I am usually driving 55-60mph and I am pretty easy on the gas pedal.
  7. 1993 Impreza L, 180K, 5 speed, averages 28 with mixed driving, 30-32 on pure hwy. I've owned the car for about a year and have tracked every tank for milage. I am very happy with these 1.8 engines. I wish Subaru would come out with another econmical car for the U.S. market.
  8. That's interesting to know, I've heard the Imp have a history of short lived wheel bearings but I assumed much longer than what I have on these. I will definitely look at the bearings again. Thanks
  9. No clunking, gust the growling noise. Kind of an odd issue to pin down. Most stuff I work on on my own but if this requires a press, I'll have to take it to someone.
  10. My experience with the Subby awd is pretty limited, when I changed the diff fluid in the rear end it looked pretty good, that was the other thing I wasn't sure about is the drive line stuff. I have had U joints go bad on my truck and that causes a real growling noise when moving.
  11. It is a 5spd AWD, I changed the fluid in the rear when the noise first started, also put 4 new Michelin X radials about 2 weeks ago, I haven't tried replacing the fluid in the tranny, that would definitely be an option before dropping the diff. I pretty much have done everything else I knew to try before narrowing it the rear diff, I have owned many 4wd and awd and have never had a problem with the rear diff. I am going to change the fluid in the tranny differential today, if that doesn't work I guess it's off with the rear diff. I'll keep posted as to what the problem ends up being. Thanks for all of the help. Shawn
  12. When I drive it the rear end has a growling noise at low speed as soon as you start moving and as speed increases it gets worse, has a harmonic sound with it at higher speeds, replaced the rear bearings 10K ago, brakes are good, new tires. I can't think of anything else that would be making the noise it's currently makin out of the rear end. Would be happy to have input if you think otherwise. Thanks
  13. I think my rear diff is going out, looking for a good resource for rebuild parts, it a 93' impreza. Thanks
  14. Just my two cents, I am a firefighter/paramedic and I have seen my fair share of car accidents with air bags over the years, I have never seen anyone seriously injured by airbag deployment. I have seen a number of children who should never have been in the front seat end up with neck pain in low speed accidents from air bags, but again no serious injuries. Overall I think front impact airbags do help more than they harm.
