  1. I have an 85 brat i may be interested in selling. I have got to repair choke before i will sale it to anyone tho. New heater core and heater control valve, 2 new front tires, new muffler, has topper, have receipts for the engine where the guy before me purchased from napa auto and installed, (has approx 34k on it now). Runs excellent smooth and quiet. Body has one rusted area below left door and one small area that has just started behind right rear wheel well. Dash is perfect, no ac. I do have an 84GL 2wd car that will go with it also. It has the ea81 engine and ac and pwr steering on it. Has blown head gasket on the car. I have clear titles on both vehicles. Have receipts for front and rear supension that has been installed, and catalytic converter other parts etc..... Body has dents on it. I have driven the brat back and forth to work since i have bought it, have had no problems with it other than a fuel pump that failed and the choke that i haven't installed yet. I have installed the fuel pump and filter then the choke failed. $1600 will purchase it right now unless i invest more into it. Excellent brat to invest into.
  2. Thanks guys for all the info. I will check the carb info, and the kit at napa. Will decide which way to go. Later
  3. I will not do the 5spd tranny swap with the 2wd. Will maybe do 5 spd 4x4 swap some day when i need to. As far as the carb goes the choke flap would not close all the way. Took spring cover off and it looks as if the spring is broken. It should have a hook on the end of it right???? It is straight. Need one if this is true. The manual did not even show a spring. Does anyone have this whole thing or can i purchase one??? Thanks for all the help. Note: I do have an 84 GL car 2wd that has a carter/weber carb on it. Brat looks like it has a hitachi??. Car is just a donor for parts. Has blown head gasket. Would i be better off swapping carbs or just repairing the hitachi??
  4. I have owned 3 subaru's, but have never had to work on one so i hope these ??s don't seem dumb. Will a 5spd 2wheel drive tranny out of an 84GL car work in a 4x4 85 brat??? Also i have just installed a new fuel pump on the brat and have been driving it everyday, but now it seems the choke is not working and it will not start on these cold mornings. Any suggestions will definitly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  5. I am new here. Have been reading and watching the board for a while. Tried to sale my brat a while back and deal fell thru. Anyway mine is not getting any gas to carb. Where is the fuel pump. Something sounds as if it is running somewhere around the carb, when i turn the switch on, but i can't seem to find it?? Has been running perfect up to this point. This is my third subaru i have owned. May sale this one when i get it running. Thanks for any help..
  6. Go to subaru repair manual section. It will have pics on how to install the heater core. I did this and it does work great. Heater core cost was $79 from Napa auto , and heater control valve had to be ordered from subaru $120. If you follow these directions it is not bad. I did not put the end piece back on and my heater works great.
