mine makes a ticking noise when the engine is warm, never when it's hot or cold. it has 196k miles. what's that mean????

if you open a system (to change compressor for instance) air will get in. since air does not condense in the condenser you will get high head pressure. don't guess at this, have someone show you how it's done. also- if the comp cycles too frequently it's probably low on refrigerant and cycling the low pressure control.

not many subarus in tucson, i think most people perceive them as snow cars. i got my ford f150 2wd stuck in slightly wet mud in the pantano wash near houghton last july, man that was embarrassing!!! but your lifted wagon probably slogs right thru.

Thanks for the pictures. I might need to refer to them because my 90 legacy has a cv axle installed by pep boys 6 months ago. Ever since then I hear a clunk every time I let off the gas. I dont know if it's a defective cv joint but I suspect it is. There have been numerous warnings on this site about cheap axles. The people in the know say to only use genuine subaru axles, or if you must save money use Napa. Now I need some advice- should I chance this axle breaking or replace it first?

my sister has a 93 impreza 1.8L with 120,000 miles. 2 weeks ago it ran dry and overheated. since then she's been seeing a puddle of coolant under the car after it's been parked a while, but it's been driving ok now that she fills it up every day and drives short distances. her mechanic said the water pump is leaking. since she's ready for a new car she might give this one to me and i'll fix it. my question is should i be worried that the water pump might seize and break the t-belt driving from her house in long island to mine in central PA?

the haynes book says its a thermistor, therefore to bypass it would require a resistor of a certain resistence to simulate whatever temp is needed to keep it running. do you know what resistence that is? or can i just jump it like another poster said?
