there are 2 lots of sparks in the ignition system, 3 if you count bad points.
points, distributor cap, spark plugs.

I think the PIAA Intense White are the best. They have a better warranty situation than Silverstar as well. We sell them at our location in Vancouver, 1-800-665-5031 or you can buy on line from http://www.piaalights.com

The First Generation RX7 would be good. Its a coil spring rear end. They are 3 rear ends though.
1-Drum Brake, open diff 4 x 110 pattern
2-Disc Brake, Limited Slip 4 x 110 pattern
3-GSL-SE Rear End, 4 x 4.5 bolt pattern, vented disc brake rotors
there are few ratios you can get from Mazda Motorsports as well.

if you can get sealed beam buckets, you can then put in H4 headlights. Are you familiar with H4 Headlights? They are the best.
-
you can put H4 headlights as a conversion. They are superior to anything and way better to keep your singles than a 4 headlight kit.
UNLESS
You have the 9004 do6 5hit headlights and you are going to put a 4 headlight kit in.

The idle speed should be smooth and not hunting. The idle speed screw should be able to be turned out to reduce the engine speed, all the way to stalling. The same with the idle mixture screw, it should be able to be turned all the way in to stall the motor.
If the idle speed screw gets turned all the way out and the engine still runs, then there is a problem with the cable maybe. Something is not letting the throttle plate close all the way.
-
I think you have a vacuum leak still. Get a can of WD40 and spray it around all the gasket areas. Check as well, your power brakes. The diaphragm could be leaking. Check as well, the throttle shaft of the Weber. They do wear. We have a throttle shaft bearing kit that takes care of those issues.
The secondary should not be adjusted. The secondary throttle plate should be closed and the screw should be peined.
-
if the pump in the carb is shot, then it will cause a hard start. The fuel needs to be injected to get the engine to run fast enough to suck the fuel from the venturi in the carb.
Time for a Weber perhaps? We can help

if it is only really 500 rpm idle, then it could be low oil pressure into the valve train

I am headed to buy a carb kit for my '86 GL EA82, but can only find these numbers on the body of the carb "23-29". The numbers on the NAPA site are like 9 letters and digits long. Could be just aging eyesight... any help always appreciated.
Doug
I have a pair of glasses to look at small numbers now

much heat from a torch will sometimes help. maybe if you can dismantle the whole thing, suspension and the shaft from the diff, you can take it out, then you dont have to worry about the rubber parts soaking up the impacts
-
We sell a fair amount of HID. the best color is 6000k. Why, because its white, and not blue. The 4300 is ok, but its yellow. Now, what I would do is to scrap the 9004 housings and put in 4 rectangular headlights and use the H4 conversion type headlights. The light will be more superior.
-
the egr valve is generally vacuum controlled. You could use a vacuum signal from the carb. There are 3 vacuum connections on most DGAV weber carbs. 1 is beside the vacuum advance hole and the other is at the venturi. if you use egr then there will be less pinging. It does take a bit of power away. You could block it off with making plates from steel plate.
-
The performance difference is not that much.
Here are a couple comments.
1) the throttle shaft on the DGAV DGV series can be repaired with a bearing kit, so there is no slop, the DFAV series can not
2)The air horn is the major thing thats larger on the DGV series. The air horn on the DFAV series is smaller. The venturies are the same, 26 and 27 mm, and the opening on the bottom of the carb is 32 and 36
3) The linkage is reversed between the 2 carbs

make sure the pump jet is squirting fuel into the barrel of the carburetor.
Jim
found a weber carb on rig at work.. will it work?
in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...

the 38 DGAS is actually easier to tune. the jets are all the same for both barrels. But, if you are interested in economy forget it. this is a power carburetor.
