This may sound silly, But what if when the air bag light is on, the ECU limits the engine power for safty reasons. Just an Idea, I have seen simular things before.

LoL. We are mainly dooing it for ************'s and Giggle's:banana: . I've made him fully aware how long the standard Ea drive line will last but he will have to learn the hard way. He is a bit of a tight A@#%.

Yep still interested in doing it. He got a very clean Ea71. Almost no rust at all.
I have two complete EA81 drive lines and he has a 180hp Ea81.

BEWARE aftermarket fans that use 'zip strips' through the radiator. The one thing I can tell you from years of off roading is that they WILL tear your rad up! It takes a while and will almost always occurr at the most inoppertune time. The fan is great, but get a kit or build one to solid mount it. All the bouncing around off road causes the fan to bounce independently from the rad, and the little strips eventually tear the core up. I removed the mechanical fans on ALL of m previous wheeling rigs and went electric. Great for HP boosts and you can turn them off so as not to throw water around the engine compartment.
I was worried about the same thing so I adapted my new electric fan to the origional fan housing to prevent this from occuring.

The timing should be set at 8 degrees BTDC @ 800rpm

I have read from other threads that red locktight has been used on cam sprocket bolts. this could be your problem.

I constanly run my EA81 Brat over 6k. I once drove 80km in third at 110km/h (with the stereo pumped up) and it still runs fine, But it has developed a few extra Knocks since then.

Thats a easy fix. You could bend the fender and front out with a slege hammer and use second hand parts to fix the rest.I will look rough but it should do.

That is a very confusing noise. Is the noise louder when its cold or is always constant.

:-\ this motor is not worth rebuilding. and the gear box is on its way out.
-
where is it located? I'll check anything and everything now.
Matt
They are usauly located in the fuse box, or some were in the engine bay. It is handy to have a wiring digram.

Is it possible to transplant a Ea82t into a Brat (brumby)

I have seen a simular problem. but it was fixed by replacing a buggered relay.

I have a GL wagon my self. It looks more like some sort of splash gaurd. But it dosnt look important and should make any differrance on how it runs.

Ahh okay okay, That makes sense. Just hope the turbine hasn't failed and filled the engine with metal. Best of luck
