  1. Do you know where I can find a manual? I did a search on Ebay but couldn't find a service manual directly for a 93 Subaru Legacy. I have a Chiltons, but don't see this info in there. Oh, and is that something I can pick up at an auto parts store or does it come from the dealer? Thanks!
  2. Every since I bought my 93 Legacy (1999) my blower switch has only worked on high. Is it possible to just replace the switch? Also, is it normal for it to blow a small amount of heat when the switch is all the way to the right (off?), when the heat button is engaged?
  3. This install all went pretty well. I am new to fixing my own stuff but we were able to get the new one in. There were a few tricky bolts to get to though. They were up under the head liner and it was a little difficult without removing it completely. There is probably a trick to this, but oh well it's done and I now have my seatbelt back. What a pain! I don't think these type of safety belt mechanisms are the smartest invention. You still have to make a conscious effort to put the lap belt on, so what's the point.....to remind you to do that?? oh and BTW.....Thanks to everyone who posts to this board.....I have learned so much already. Thanks for all your help and suggestions.
  4. It moved very little and then the allen key wouldn't turn anymore. I just bought a salvaged one and am going to put it in today. The cable seems to be jammed up somewhere and I took all the panels off around it and can't figure out what's wrong. I found one for $125 and the guy said it was super easy to put in. Which is better than the $725 the Subaru specialist wanted to charge.
  5. Ok I will just return that part then......Thank You. It was only $20, but $20 is $20. It sounds like it may cost more if I replace it.
  6. Have you ever changed the filter. I am planning to get my ATF flushed and changed, and they said they would replace the filter if I brought the part in.
  7. I have a 93 Legacy that this just happened too. I tried cranking the cable back but it doesn't move more than an inch. Any idea why this might be happening?
  8. And why can't I find anything in my Chiltons on the automatic safety mechanism/motor....anything.
  9. I went through all the other postings and tried to wind the cable back in, but it only goes about an inch and stops. I'm not sure if I need to replace the whole track or I should do as you suggested and just put in a regular seatbelt. If I could just get the cable to wind back in and the belt lock to slide all the way back and stay there that would be fine too. Does anyone have any suggestions besides taking it in to the dealer or auto repair place?
  10. Yesterday I went to get out of my car and my seat belt did not slide all the way open. About an hour later the (greasy!!) cable came out in a big loop, and is now stuck that way. I am not sure what happened here, but when I called the dealer they said it would cost $200-$600 to fix it , and they would need it for a couple of days. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can take care of this myself? I have a 1993 Subaru Legacy L Wagon. I appreciate any help I can get. I have looked through the forum and did find some info. but I guess I need some explanation. I am new to DIY'ing my car and want to save some money if I can. Thank You
