  1. another problem since the last post.....coolant overflow is bubbling, I know this sounds like a head gasket but I really dont think it is....put a pod filter on last run and "young fella" hooked up the green things that General Disorder, mentioned in another post, since then its been running bad........any other guesses? Cheers.
  2. Thanks for the response...mine is actually an 87, not an 86 as mentioned by my incorrect posting. How do I bypass the stock controller...thanks. What I have seen is a piece of pipe probably only 2 inches across on the front side of the turbo,,,is that where it goes? and yes not really wanting to put it in until the I/C is in. Thanks
  3. sorry to butt in guys, I hear "oem" mentioned alot......what is it a brand or factory standard? Cheers
  4. Just a quick question.....I hear "rice" mentioned alot...what does it mean? Hoods sound good, but being on the other side of this huge world, freight would kill me.
  5. Hi everyone, just another question if you dont mind. Just bought a box of parts for the EA82T. 200 dollars for a pod filter, boost guage, BOV and MBC. So my question to you fellas is.....where does the MBC go? Does it need to be fabricated between the extremely short standard pipe between the wastegate and ????????. As for the BOV, I rang the guy who I bought them off and he said drill and tap the silver intake thing and put it in there. I have a WRX intercooler that i want to put on at a later date, but if i drill and tap the silver think will it affect my intercooler installation that I want to do later? Hope you understand what I am trying to say....cheers.
  6. Thanks alot for your help, finally found it, it was in the cabin not the engine bay. Havent taken it for a run yet but the breathing has stopped. Cheers again.
  7. Yeah, the other side over here, so I've obviously bodged something during the boost guage install. Your advice has been great, thanks. I'm still not entirely sure what I'm looking for but it should be traceable in the morning. I have had a "helper" tinker with a few of my things lately only for them to break a few days later. I took my bike down the bike shop for a service last week only to find that said helper had removed all the oil and the sump plug without my knowing. So is it a vacuum line or an elctrical connection? Cheers
  8. I was fiddling over the other side trying to get the boost guage on. Is it an electrical type connection that needs unplugging? Thanks
  9. Green test mode connectors? how can I unhook these and how did they get hooked in the first place? Where are they located? Thanks mate.
  10. Here it is, its the silver thing at the top of the pic....two of the three lines are sucking in and out in a rhythmic heart like fashion and making a noise with the ignition on and the motor not running. as for the bubbling water after a short boost....it doesn't usually do this and normally runs really cold, but this time everything got hot alot quicker than normal. Cheers.
  11. Thanks for the reply....will go outside for a cigarette with my torch and camera and upload some if they turn out ok. Cheers
  12. ...and not knowing anything about cars really makes it all quite fun. So here is the problem....I blew the front cv joint and the rear axle last day out in my old leone turbo so now it only runs in rwd??? Today I put a pod filter in it and attached a boost guage just to see if the engine would be ok to transplant. Anyway hooked the boost guage up and now as soon as you turn the ignition on there is a sucking sound coming from two pipes which leads to the fuel injector rails????????on the other side of the motor, these pipes lead up to a reasonably large black cylinder by the firewall. as long as the ignition is on it sounds like a heart sucking in and out and just keeps on going. Anyway took it for a wee spin (10kilometres) and when I got back i heard bubbling water around turbo area and the temperature guage kept on rising (about half way) even when switched off but nothing too serious to cause damage. just wondering whether its worth getting someone to switch the motors if this one is on its way out. Seems pretty strong though and usually runs really cool. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
  13. Cheers again Northwet.... I had a look in daylight and you are correct....it looks like the CV joint has stripped away from the front right wheel. It may not be the CV joint as i am only a novice but steering has not been affected and as mentioned before it drives fine in 4wd. Is this a simple replacement part swap over or could more sinister damage have occurred? heres a pic for those of you in the know. Inner front Left Rear
  14. Thanks northwest......there was a fair bit of black soot on the rear left side axle (non drivers side in my country) so I dont know why the rear axle would affect the front wheel drive system. The gearbox is not engaging in FWD but is fine in 4wd. Thanks.
  15. Works ok in 4wd but cant select gears in 2wd, clutch seems fine when in 4wd so I dont think that is the problem. Also blew a axle on the same day....can you still drive around ok temporarily because it only seems to affect the car at low speeds. Any advice greatly appreciated. Cheers.
  16. No rollercoaster piping, its just that the original "silver subaru 4wd turbo" thing reaches down quite deep towards the turbo and the intercooler obviously sits quite high, I just thought if I took an inch and a half of the end piece it would make the climb to the intercooler less steep and less angular. (if you get what I mean?) Thanks. Any easy ways to install a boost tap, or is that question for another thread? I appreciate all your help everyone.
  17. Thanks Caboobaroo..........can the original throttle body be "trimmed" to ease the harshness of the bends to the intercooler outlet or are harsh bends not our enemy in an intercooler installation? Cheers
  18. So after much thought I think I may have figured it out let me know if I am right please. Large inlet hole at front of intercooler must be rigged up to the end of the silver thing with subaru turbo 4wd on it?? Does this need to be cut slightly or is it better just to raise it an inch or so with two new silicone joiners? Two outlets at bottom side of intercooler need to be joined to a y pipe and then joined back up just in fromt of the turbo where the old subaru 4wd turbo silver thing used to join?? Please tell me its as simple as that?......is it? Thanks
  19. Here are the pics....sorry it took so long to upload....was having trouble. The pipe on the right is the baffling one....inside the pipe is a trapdoor type device that can effectively close down half the intercooler, bearing in mind its of a twin turbo model can it be used or do I need to link up two "straight through" pipes to aid airflow. Pic in the middle is of a WRX factory plastic BOV...can this be used or not and does it go on the little outlet pipe on the right hand side of the intercooler. SO MANY QUESTIONS I HEAR YOU YELLING.........ok just one more thing, the intercooler really does look like it would fit the car better if rotated 180 degrees...eg up down not left right. Will this work? Thanks Heaps for the help.
  20. Yes it looks very similar to the one pictured above but one of the intercooler outlet tubes has a flapper type shut off and a large round external "thing" with a vacuum hose coming off of it, there are also 3 vacuum hoses on the other end of the pipe near the intercooler side. The other pipe is nice and simple looking and does not baffle me. I tried to post pics for you all to see but I am not allowed to post attachments for some reason. So my question to you knowledgable chaps is do i need to get a new "uncomplicated" pipe or can I use the one with all the doodackys on it and what on earth are the 4 vacuum hoses for. Sorry for being a newb but I hope to improve my knowledge through things I pick up from those who have done it. Cheers all.
  21. It just arrived today, can anyone advise if it will fit and how to put it on. I would really appreciate some help....thanks.
  22. Thanks mate, have you installed an intercooler....is it hard as my knowledge is basic to say the least, my enthusiasm far outweighs my skills. I have done an extensive search on the net and nothing specific to the EA82t. Thanks again.
