My engine will start and run fine, but when I shut it down before it get's totaly warm it will stall. I then have to feather the gas to keep it going till it warm's up. I started to take the valve off and found it to be really tight place to work so I sprayed carb. cleaner up the biggest hose. Can't tell that I hurt it are helped it. (how much was the labor to have the valve replaced.) I know the valve cost's around 300.00. If you done your own labor how many bolt's and hoses are holding it.

I need advise on cleaning this valve. It looks easy to remove is their anything to watch for, (flying springs or something) what kind of cleaning fliud to use. It is a 1997 2.2

Why not check with Subaru Wrecking yard, and see if they have the part you need. Lot's of wrecking yards in Tx. will also do the labor. (however we are short of Subaru yard's here) but you should have some in your area.

No ck. engine light. Steering wheel on right. I think it only has the one temp. sending unit but not sure.

Money is no object in U.S.A. we just print more when we run short.

My son had xm radio put in his truck at Best Buy, labor was not that high, you might check with them.

I forgot to mention that I changed the purge control solenoid also. I had posted this problem here about eight months ago, and others said that could be the problem. Any other ideals? Could the idle air control cause this?
Setright, I use this car for my job (Postal Service) and we must turn engine off when we exit car for any reason.

My 1997 Legacy wagon 2.2 eng. will sometime not idle after turning engine off and restarting it. Then I can run it some more and it will idle fine. I drive it daily and it will do this about four times a month. Any ideals? I have changed the temp. sending unit already.

I would also have tires checked to see if one of the belts may have split.

Don't give up so easy. Send the dealer a certified letter with a return receipt, explain that you bought this in good faith, and now that the provider is out of business, you will be forced to seek restitution in small claims court. Explain you will give them 10 day's to contact you to settle this. let them know that if they fail you will bring suit aganist the provider and also aganist them, being they was acting as the agent for this company. If they fail do what you told them, go to the county courthouse, ask one of the clerks where to file, and do it. The cost is very little, but the pleasue is worth ever penny. The dealer don't won't to deal with this, they will most likely settle with you as soon as the court contact's them. If not go to court, if you get your judgement, go to the clerk and file it, an wait for your money.

I agree with the ones here that think you may have still been low on coolant after the hose change. Did you run it far enough or long enough to get it hot before the trip? My Subaru is really tough to get back full of coolant after I have let coolant out for any reason.

I also have righthand drive subaru mail car. Did you check with Litha Subaru in Or. They sell part's at a large discount to Subaru's that are used on routes. And I think anyone that would call them would get a large discount also. I bought a fan motor from them about two years ago I don't remember the price but I know it was along way down from the price you quoted. their number is 866-717-2512 you can get next day del. with express from them or two day del. with prioirty. My Subaru has 265,170 miles on it so I have had to buy quite a few part's over the year's and have not had any problem with them.

Battle Wagon Medic, easy on pennzoil my 97 Legacy has 262,000 miles and has seen nothing but pennzoil. nearly all of the major oil's I think exceeds manufacturers warranty, I would not have doubts about using most of them.

Check the C.V. boot's one may be busted. You may also have a belt in one of the tires seperated.

Did you check drive shaft joint's? Also you might check rear brakes if you have not already.

Have you had your tires checked for balance or maybe a seperated belt?

260,700 on my 97 2.2 in Texas heat doing stop and go mail delivery. I have changed crank seal's twice, and the dealer changed cam seals once when it was still in warranty. Also have changed water pump and timing belt. Have not had trouble with any gaskets, so far. (Forgot) did also change valve cover gasket's.

does anyone know about how much transmission fluid it takes to get transmission back to full if you just drain with out replacing filter? Also why are the post's showing 8-19 while it is still 8-18

Was your engine a 2.2 ? How many mounting bolt's were on your's I took two off of my 2.2 and it still would not come off. Also they were not real tight and I could not find the torqe valve for them so I did not retighten them to tight in fear that they might break. If their is mounting bolt's below the two I took off it looks like the intake manifold might have to come off to get to them. Did you has to have long needle nose pliers to remove clamps or did you remove them after removing valve from manifold? I appreciate all of the help already, and any more you could give would also be appreciated.
