figured out why it died last night... i adjusted the idle to low and with the heater fan on so it compinsated a little bit. then last night when i turned off my fan it killed the car so im goin to turn up my idle later....

sorry. it idles fine when its warm... it just dont like to start right away..
there is a stop light less than a mile away from my house and it was ideling away at the light then i coasted to my house a little ways and when i stopped the engine died and i just walked away after trying to restart it...... idk it seems to hold boost just fine and plenty of power but ill look around for a vac. leak

well after gettin my new car running and driving around i have noticed a few things some minor some just plain annoying..... Btw its a 88 RX turbo..
1st is hard starting some times it takes around 30 seconds to get it started and thats pumping the gas pedal... only seems to happen after its heated up..
2 No diff. lock light:confused:
3 and prolly the least important is the turbo light don't work i want it to thought
any ideas on these? oh and tonight driving home i pulled up to my parking space pushed in the clutch and coasted and the car died tryed to restart but no idle.... hmmm idk its showing just a knock sensor code last time i checked would that make it not want to start? and the idle issue?

well i went to my friends house today to make some headway on the rust. last night after posting i found a huge hole in the trunk area where the muffler would be on the out side so i decided that exaust fumes were not too good in a car. so i fixed it today heres some pics. i hope i did it right...............

The blue paint says its rust preventive i hope so

i think i can do it. its just im totaly new to body work i think i might inlist the help of some of my friends that go to school for body work. too bad you dont live in state other wise i would drive to you

so i checked the oil in my trans. today in my rx and im super low
the problem is i have no idea what kind of oil to buy and what weight i should use. can somebody with this great knowledge help me out
oh and its a 5spd fulltime in case that matters.

yea i think i remember you posting about that car. well good luck with that from what i have seen you deff. know what your doing. hopfully soon i will have a rust free $225 Rx i have a feeling there is gonna be alot of rust under the rear spoiler and the ground affects kit:rolleyes:

oh i know i had no intentions of letting it rust away thats why i bought it
ill try to get some detailed pics tommorw when its light outside, after the oil change, im just not that great at bodywork but i do have friends that have schooling in that area, but i feel its my car i wanna be able to say LOOK I FIXED IT!

i lack a major tool i think. a welderother than the rust and a bad axle its a really good car. so far. (knocks on wood)

the real bad stuff is actually in the back there is a cancer hole about 2 inches i
right by the license plate is. im a total noob when it comes to rust repair.

thats one thing i have noticed about this car. no tod. (knocks on wood) its only got 166*** thats not that much to me considering my dl had 280***

yea it has some bad cancer. even worse in the back but im very pleased with it so far. :cool:

well i finally got her up and runnin and fixed the coolant hose prob. thanks for the advice guys here are some pics of Rex and all of its $225 gloary
just need a new axle now!

what does the feed line look like? is there a T fitting in it? and i sopose if it blew it would spray coolant all over huh? cause theres a bunch

is there a colant line that runs under the head too? cause i got under it and it looked like a hard line under there was leaking i dont know it could have been just running down and driping on the exaust, i really want to drive my new toy this is frustrating

i gotsa problem now. i was driving from my house back to my friends and steam was pourin out the back Bad pulled up to his house popped the hood and steam pours out coolant every were too dark to see whats going on
its coming from the passenger side right by the allunumun intake for the turbo the one that says subaru turbo
im really upset now, is there any know hoses to do that around that area??

WOW! got it running today im pretty happy with it, at first start up it got pretty hot i shut it down and added some more coolant and turned on the heater. seems to be normal now. i really like this car. but it needs a new drivers side axle ne body have one for free or cheap

i wasn't really sure if she was mistaken or not. but i figured she was. it has the full time d/r with diff. lock though. and i was wondering what does that do anyways, i have heard of it but was never really sure. Im talking about the diff lock if your confused.

yea i have done a little bit of pokin around, i know they are very prone to overheating and headgasket issues, my dad had one.
i was told by the lady i bought it from that, a guy she let work on it is a subaru "Guru" and says its a 88 and a 1/2 did they have half years??

no it had spark but!! i bought it today for 225 and it was teh timing belt
teneseinor.......... it grenaded ball berings every were! lol im really happy with it. ill try and get pics tommorw i cant belive how xpenseve they are from shucks i guess imma just go to pull and save tommorw! sold my hatch for it too. i smell some hardcore rallyin soon lol.

well i got her fixed today. i read the codes and it tured up as the coolant temp sensor was unplugged. and there was a vac line undone and a port plugged off. thanks guys so much. i cleared the codes but now its back with a egr silinoide and a nutral switch
