  1. Thank you so much for the response Fairtax. That information is super helpful! The carfax indicates that the vehicle had a minor accident. It looks fine from the pictures both inside and out but of course that doesn't show everything. I'm planning on seeing the car this weekend. They are asking $10,895. I will definitely have an independent mechanic check it out if I decide to move further.
  2. I recently had to unexpectedly bid adieu to my beloved '94 Impreza. Prior to that, I owned an '85 GL. I love Subies and obviously have history with them, so I'd like to get another but don't have the budget for a newer one. I'm considering going to take a look at a 2007 Impreza 2.5i Sedan with about 67,000 miles. All I know right now is that it was recently inspected. I was wondering if anyone had any insight into any sort of part wear and tear I should be aware of with this model at this mileage point. I'm not skilled enough to do any sort of repairs or maintenence on my own, so I need to consider what sort of repairs might be in the future since I'll need to take it somewhere. I know that timing belt and head gaskets might be an issue. Any advice or things to keep in mind would be much appreciated!
  3. Sorry for your son's loss. I know how it feels. I recently lost my '94 Impreza thanks to a hit and run while my beloved Subie was parked overnight. I was heart broken. Prior to the Impreza, I owned a '85 Brown GL. I don't have a huge budget, hoping to find another slightly newer than a '94 subie to fill the hole in my heart. -Katie
  4. I drive a 1994 Subaru Impreza with about 98,000 miles. Before Christmas time, once it finally got cold out, I started having difficulty starting the car. The car would crank very slowly and eventually stop. The check engine light, battery light and oil light would turn on. I could eventually get the car to start by flooring the gas pedal and it would crank and crank. While doing this, I could hearing some sort of banging noise underneath the car. However, once I got the car started it seemed to work fine except for the check engine light turning on. This problem was not consistent either. I took the car to my local mechanic who couldn't find anything wrong with it. At this point, the weather had gotten warmer (I live in Philadelphia). Once I got the car back, I wasn't having any problems. It did get cold again, and one day after work, my car had been sitting for a while and I had a very hard time starting the car, same problem. I then took the car to another mechanic who specializes in foreign cars. Althought it was cold, they didn't have any trouble starting it. They said the check engine light came up as a code 21 but could not find any problems with whatever code 21 refers to. They did say the battery was low testing, so they replaced the battery. It was running great for a few weeks, however I have had isolated incidents with the same problem. Seems to occur when it is cold and the car has been sitting. Could this be a problem with the battery connection or switch. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? I am afraid to take the car to a dealer for fear of paying and arm and a leg for something that someone else could fix. Thanks!!! Katie
