  1. I just got me a weber carb for my '87 wagon.,I'm just trying to make sure I have everything I need.Do I just need the adapter plate and filter or would their be anything else.Where would be the best place to buy the adapter.Does Redline sell them seperate or do you have to get the whole kit.
  2. Yeah,I just have the front wheel drive on my '79.Someday,I'd like to find a 5 speed. It does pretty good on gas but there's always room for improvement. It runs really good,I wished my '87 wagon run as good.I got the '79 for highway use and the wagon for the winter.
  3. Is the 4 to a 5 speed swap pretty straight forward, other than the problem of finding a 5 speed in the first place.I have a great running 1979 dl front wheel drive car,it'd just be nice it had 1 extra gear to help out a little on gas costs.
  4. I have 1987 gl wagon. It don't need much.Just bought a weber off ebay, now I need to get the adapter and filter. It's running, just has a really bad carb.I'd like to lift it someday but lack of money always gets in the way.I also have an old '81 wagon that I need to get started working on too.It hasn't been messed with for a long time.

  5. Well,I bought a 32/36 DGAV on ebay for $63.If it doesn't end up needing rebuilt should it work with the right adapter plate on my '87 wagon?
  6. I wish I could find a good rust free body or even one with very little rust..It's my brother's car but it ran really good,it be a waste to junk it.
  7. My brothers subaru has some major problems. It runs great[wish my subie ran that good]But awhile back the entire back suspension, driveshaft and everything broke off the body.I knew the car was rusty just didn't know it was that bad.Been looking for a replacement body but was wondering what's the easiest way to fix it.
  8. Thanks for the help everybody, found one on ebay, got it on the other day.Now if I just find a good 5 speed to swap in to save on gas I'll be all set.
  9. I have a chance to get a couple weber32/36 DGV-5A carbs. They came off an old Datsun. If I got them and bought a adapter plate seperate is there any reason they shouldn't work on my car.I also have a 1979 DL front wheel drive I'd like to put the other on.Or would I be better off just getting the kit from Redline. What does everybody think?
  10. That would be great if I could get one on ebay.I was wondering if anybody new if a cv joint for a '79 brat would fit a '79 subaru dl front wheel drive car.
  11. I have a '79 subaru dl and need a new cv joint.I live in a pretty small town and don't have alot of auto parts stores here.O'reilly's here say they can't get it.Where should I look?
  12. Yeah,my car backfires all the time too, just haven't got it figured out yet. It's a 1986 gl wagon, when I gas it fairly hard, when I shift it really pops.It done it hard enough it blew my muffler out.Hope someone here can help you out.
  13. Thanks,I'm supposed to look at it tommorrow.I thought it was a 4 door but I found out today it was a 2 door instead.I would rather have a 2 door anyway.I thought it should get pretty good fuel economy but didn't really know.
  14. I've got a mid 80's front wheel drive that's a junker[body trashed,engine locked]would the 5 speed swap over into the '79?
  15. I don't really know anything about them. What seems to be the weak points about them, other than being old.I was looking for a car thats cheap, gets good fuel mileage and is easy to work on.
  16. I'm thinking of buying a 1979 Subaru front wheel drive car,4 door and a 4 speed tranny.I was wandering how good they are. How's the fuel mileage and how's the engines longevity and reliability wise.I was just wondering if one would be a good daily driver or if I should get something else.I already have a '86 gl 4x4 stationwagon that I like alot.I posted this in another forum by mistake and thought I'd try posting int this forum to see what everybody's thoughts were on the little '79 front wheel drives.
  17. Yeah,I noticed I had it posted in the wrong forum about 30 seconds after I posted it.Sorry about that.It was rainy today so I'm going to go look at it this week.
  18. Hi everybody,I just found this subaru forum a few days ago.I was posting to find out about the 1979 subaru front wheel drive cars.I really like the 4WD station wagons but I really don't know much about the older front wheel drive cars.I have a chance to buy a 1979 front wheel drive 4 door in pretty good shape but was wondering what kind of fuel mileage they usually get, about the reliabilty and longevity of the engine and how hard the parts are to find.Is $400 a reasonable price,I can't seem to find out much about them on the internet.Any help would really be appreciated, thanks.
