cool thanks can i use the outback springs ????
-
i have a 1997 outback sport i installed a set of forester rear struts so i could run 205/70/15 tires with out rubbing on the spring seats the struts gave me a nice lift in the rear do the front struts for the forester do the same for the front and are they a bolt in also ????
-
yes you can use the forester/legacy outback struts.
I have done so with foresters on a 95 legacy. The springs didnt quite fill out the travel, i was able to get the strut top together without compressing the spring. you can use a spring spacer, or try to find outback legacy or forester springs, or even aftermarket.
cheapest way would be to find a spring/strut assembly from the junkyard
i just bought a pair of new complete forester struts on ebay for $100.00

swap the whole unit, spring and strut from a used parts yard, 50$ each.
the closest yard to me is 200 miles
-
96-99 legacy outback or 98 up forester struts will work.
do they use the same spring as the outback ????
-
it looks like the left strut will clear the tire on the right side the spring pockets are mounted diff on the struts ... when it quits raining i will find out
-
thats funny i just put 205/70/15 on a 1997 outback sport and the right rear tire rubs real bad on the strut and this car already has outback struts on it im open for ideas
-
i just put a set of 205/70/15 on a 1997 outback sport everything was cool until i put the right rear tire on it sits under the spring pocket on the strut and the spring pocket is right on the tire the measurement from the top of the bottom strut mount to the spring pocket is 8.5 inches anybody have a longer strut body that i could replace mine with ??? if i can find a model and year i would be good to go

when you put brake pads on if you press the caliper piston into the caliper without opening the caliper bleeder letting the brake fluid out of the caliper the abs will cause this from the fluid being forced into the abs unit
