  1. I plan on it being mainly transportation for the wife to drive to work, and some wheelin, I really want dual range, because you never need low range until you don't have it. My Jeep handles most of the heavy wheeling, but it isn't family friendly, and I would like something I can load the wife, kid, and dog into, and not worry about getting stuck on the way to the camping spot(the road to get there is pretty much a goat trail) Thanks for the advice so far, I had already planned on a weber, my old 73 had one, and it rocked.
  2. The Goodyears are a great tire, I know a lot of people who run them, all of the Interco tires perform great, but the tread is known for chunking, the compound Goodyear uses is much less likely to chunk, and they don't wear nearly as quick.
  3. What is the best year to look for in a 4wd wagon? Here's what I need, good engine, carbureted(I like the parts to be cheap as possible) 4 doors, 2 speed transfer case. I am looking at an 87, but it may not work out. Oh, I also have to keep it under $1500 Thanks for your input:D
  4. Check your fuel pump, and your filter. As for problem #2, first check to see if the heater core has been bypassed, not sure if the also check the valve on it, that may be stuck closed, or you could have a broken or didconnected linkage on the controlls. Good Luck
  5. Not trying to be picky, but brake cleaner does very bad things to rubber and plastic, carb cleaner would be a better choice.
  6. I did get under it with a flashlight, no rust anywhere except on the front driver and passenger side window trim, and that's just surface. The car doesn't appear to have been abused, the body is straight, interior is in good shape, just high mileage. I already plan on putting it through it's paces when I test drive it. I have owned one Subaru before, a 73 DL(I think) Rebuilt the engine, and couldn't find heads for it. It's gone now
  7. First off, hello, I look foreward to learning a thing or two here. Now to my questions, I'm looking at an 87 GL wagon, the guy wants $900 for it, it's a one owner car, has 223,000mi on it, and is on it's second engine, not sure how many miles are on that, but I'll ask, is this a good deal? What should I be looking at closely? I am very mechanically inclined, kind of have to be with my Jeeps, so I don't mind a bit of wrenching. This will mainly be the wife's car, but I plan on making it fun for me as well. Sorry for the long post, Thanks for your input
