  1. Thank you very much! I originally had the crossmemberset at 11". I measured the neighbors '05 Outback at 7" to the lowest point on the crossmember (a small bracket that looks like a PS mount or cover. The angle on the axels looked too high at 11", too low if I dropped it below 6". Now I can go forward with the rest of the chassis for the 2F1R 3 wheeler. The chassis rails are 5 1/2" off the ground. Because it's a 3 wheeler I want the lowest CG possible. This should do it. Thanks again. Cheers. Dave.
  2. Hello all. I need a measurement of the clearance between the ground and the bottom of the front crossmember for a GL Subaru. I measured the neighbors Outback (2005?) at about 8". Does anyone know how much difference there is between the old Subaru and a newer one? Also, can anyone tell me if there is a Subaru front suspension that uses upper control arms instead of Struts? Thanks for the help. Cheers. Dave.
  3. How recent was your air filter change? I'd have to agree with the thought of a clogging catalytic convertor. One way to find out. Pull the exhaust down just ahead of the convertor. Go for a short spin and see how it runs unplugged. If it's a noticable difference change the convertor. Remember this is very loud so don't go by sound. Cheers. Dave.
  4. Hi You may have a stuck choke pulloff, or there may be a lot of slop/gunk on the linkage. Just a thought. Cheers. Dave.
  5. Hi. I'd try taking it to a locksmith and see if he can replace the tumblers. It may just be a case of turning the pins over. Just a thought. Cheers. Dave.
  6. I posted a couple of pic's showing the progress or lack there of on the 2F1R Suby/dub 3 wheeler. Once I get some measurements I can proceed. Right now. as it sits the ground clearance between the Suby front crossmember and the ground is 11". Does that sound ballpark? The frame rails are 7" from the ground. I can change either to suit before I finalize the ground clearance at the front then at the third wheel in the rear. After that, it's a done deal. The pic's show the Suby front subframe and transaxel, and another side view of the trans. A partial footwell will run in here once I remove the radius strut, and change to an upper control arm. The rear will be equal lenght paralell bars the same as the front. There will be a central backbone (triangular) and outer rails as well. HMMMMMMMMMMM. I wonder how this would go with a WRX in it? Cheers. Dave.
  7. Hello all. Forgive the dumb question but doesn't a Subaru have a code port? If so you can take it to an Autozone and they will check it for free. Just a thought. Cheers. Dave.
  8. Hello all. Newby here, yet again. I need to ask a favor. I know very little about Subaru's, but I am using some parts to build a 3 wheeled vehicle. It's a 2F1R (2 front 1 rear) design that uses a Subaru front wheel drive and subframe. I need some measurements from the actual cars. The parts for this one are from an '85 GL. I need the ground clearance to the front crossmember. The clearance between the transaxel and the subframe, and how far back from the subframe the transaxel actually sits. I missed seeing the engine in this one so I have no idea how it is supposed to sit. It has the stock slotted steel wheels on it ( a friend has a set of pug wheels he will give me. although I'd kind of like to run the wagonwheels). You all have much more knowledge than I do, plus you have access to the actual cars, so Please can you help me out here. Cheers. Dave.
  9. Hello all. Newbie here. There is an '83 hatchback parts car posted on the Reno, Nv, Craigslist. It's a little beat but price is reasonable and has good parts. I'd pick it up but she who must be obeyed says not until I get rid of something else. Cheers. Dave.
