  1. I'm with you Junkie. Apparently I can't seem to find my voltage meter at 2am to verify. But I'm quite sure it's the alternator too.
  2. 90 Loyale, 5sp, 4-door Cruising at 65 MPH, all trouble lights came on and stayed on? Car still ran okay. I have a guess but want to make sure I'm right.
  3. I apologize for posting a question. Please forgive me. I must have lost my head and forgot what forums are for.
  4. 90 Loyale Sedan, SOHC 1.7L, non-turbo I've been getting a "35" code (Purge Canistor solenoid or circuit) forever now. I'm ready to banish the engine light. I have no clue what the heck this is telling me. I realize some codes may steer the owner off in the wrong direction, but I'm not even sure which direction to start with this code. Any hints? Suggestions? Past experiances? Thanks in advance!
  5. After reinstalling the EA82 into my 90 Loyale 5-speed from a engine gasket kit job, I apparently have lost ~2-3 mpg. I have calculated mpg for four fill-ups after the engine reinstallation, each with the same result. It runs good, sounds good, doesn't leak any more, timing is 20 BTDC. Ideas? Thanks in advance.
  6. I thought the 23 spline was for non-turbo's, and the 25 spline is for turbo's. I have a unopened 23 spline GCK shaft for my 90 Loyale 5-speed, non-turbo. Do I need to return it (before I tear the knuckle apart)?
  7. After I finished pulling the engine on my 90 Loyale to do a engine gasket kit job, the lifters sounded like Sammy Davis Jr. was dancing on my hood. I dropped in about a half quart of of ATF in the oil and about 60 miles later (and some frequent periods of high revs) she purred like a kitten. If she leaks 'here and there', pull that tiny engine out and slap a engine gasket kit on it.
  8. Hmmmm, went to amazon.com and couldn't find the axles. I have a new one in the box on my back seat. I'll gladly return it (GCK axle) to AZ if I can save $50 and buy from amazon. I'll look again. My left side is clicking away pretty good.
  9. Wow, the new pump should have came with a new O riing. I think you got ripped off. Who knows, you may have gotten a return after somebody 'forgot to put the O ring back in the box'.
  10. Most cam seal kits come with both the thin (inner) and the main (outer). No reason not to do both anyway while you have it out. I just did a full engine gasket set on my 90 EA82. My inner cam seals where as brittle as a cracker. Oh, a glob of grease (top of lifters/rocker 'hole') will hold those rockers on just long enough for you to get that cam box back on. Jacking the car up on the side your doing helps too. I had it easy since my engine was able to spin on the engine stand. However I rememberrd the above hint from previous jobs. Good luck.
  11. If your pump isn't leaking (sealed), be patient, it may take awhile for them to fill. Have you verified good oil pressure? If that flimszy mickey-mouse gasket goes bad or is installed wrong you could get air in there. Did you do some high revs while in neutral too after you warmed the oil up from the drive? I spent a lot of time on this forum regarding my lifters. Turns out I just had to be patient. (I replaced one side of my lifters too. Turns out I could have saved some $$$) I switched to 10w-40 oil (from 10w-30) too on the rumor that these Soobies like the thicker oil. I also 'rinse out' each oil quart bottle with a little "Sea Foam" and dump it into the oil.
  12. .5 quart of ATF in the oil did the trick for my 90 EA82 (thanks Gloyale). Put the ATF in, gave it a good drive with occasional 5000 rpm revs and TA DA! Then I changed the oil.
  13. I need to take a axle to my 90 Loyale that was 'borrowed' then broke. I guess it's making quite a racket and I'm not comfortable driving it back. He assures me it's the axle. I believe him since I've been hearing 'issues' with that side lately. Since the person has absolutley no tools, and is over an hour away, I have issues. I have never counted the splines on the axle, and I need to know the spline count to buy a new GWK axle at AZ. Apparently he is in the sticks with no parts store closer than to where I'm at. (sorry for the long story, but trust me, I'd tear it open and count the splines myelf if I could) Anybody know?
  14. use the belt and the crank turn/align the pulley for you, then take the belt off and realign you belt-mark on the flywheel, making sure the other pulley is pointing 180 from drivers side when you hit the mark. Re-install the [new] belt on the drivers side.
