  1. wow, those things are stuffed in there! what size are they?

with the rust on the wells I would think that it would eat into the tread over bumps...

yeah that picture was before i beat on them some more. they are 235/75/15's. 28" diameter. now they only rub on big bumps. i like the way it makes it look.

  2. Have to agree with cd drill the hubs not the rim, looks much better more wheel options:eek:

well i got my wheels drilled and mounted up. they still rub on hard turns and big bumps. much better than before.

  3. ok so i just got a set of 6 lugs that will work. now my question is what size of bit do i need to drill the holes? i have access to a drill press on base. so what are all the tools that i will need to do this?

  4. ok so i just got some new wheels. they are 15 inch steelies off of an izizu trooper. with 6 tires ( 4 that are brand new goodyear wrangler at's 2 that are about half worn) and 5 of the tires are mounted on rims already. all for a grand total of $175. now i cant wait to put them on. pics will follow

  5. You can use the base auto shop. They have a drill press you just got to bring your own bits. I live less then one hour from you and my wife is leaveing her job at offut this friday. Let me know if you need help. I plan on buying SJR lift when the group buy ends next week. So you can come and watch me install my lift.

  6. ok another question. has anyone used 16" wheels? i just found a good deal on some gm half ton 16 inch 6 bolt wheels. also what is the largest outer diameter you can use without lifting. cutting fenders is fine.i am currently looking at 3 tires there outer dia. is 26.1 27 and 28 with an 8.7 croos sectional dia except the 28" that has a 8.6

  7. you'd be moving all 6 lugs. they'd have to be centered, and they'd have to be balanced. means big $$$ to a machine shop.

and, 31s are enormous for a subaru

yeah i know 31's are big i won't be using them. i just wanted the wheels and the tires came with them. i don't think it would be that hard. weld the holes that in them now then drill the 4 holes in the correct spots and i would enlarge the center hole to match the subaru one. and they would have to be balanced anyway when i get the new tires on there. was also thinking cut the center part out of one of the 13's and use it as a templet on the 15's??? i have an extra wheel so if it didn't work i would still be good. any ideas on that?

  8. im not sure if dodge 6 lug is right, i think its dodge and ford that have 6x4.5" patterns you want 6x5.5". it'll be chevy/toyota/nissan that fit. anyways i was able to fit 15x8's with streched 205/65r15 tires, no lift with cut fenders.

heres a pic of my re-drilled wheels

ha get these puppies goin http://gainesville.craigslist.org/pts/656459785.html

havent measured them yet. if they are 6x4.5 how possible would it be to just weld up the holes real good and drill 4 new ones in the correct spots?

  9. ok i just got home from the junkyard and i got some wheels off of a dodge dakota. they are 6 lug so i hope i will be able to use them. and they came with 31x10.5 tires. all for 59 dollars. one of the tires is bad though. i will try to post a pic of them. i know that those tires won't fit without a lift. i will just get some regular tires untill i lift it. 0523081703nq9.jpg[/img]

  10. I let the FAQ drop off to generate more conversation. It got so if anybody had a question, everybody would just tell them to look at the FAQ. . .

A resourceful noob would use the search button.

And, the 6 lug conversion is covered in the FAQ too.

Where in Nebraska are you crazylong127? I have family in Lincoln.

i am stationed at offutt afb next to omaha

  11. the lug pattern is not the same, only subaru and peugeot wheels have the same lug pattern, or drill out some 6 lug wheels...

    also, 7" is pretty wide...

    --Spiffy

yeah i am going to a junkyard tomorrow and find some 6 lugs. what car or truck should i be looking for? or just any 6 lug?

  12. dont go much larger than 27" MT's or you will lose alot of your gearing.the 87 is it a daily driver or offroad toy?I have a 83 wagon that is an offroad toy that I change the tires out when I get somewhere.in the mud it runs 26" tractor tires.goes anywhere I want it to go in the mud...its not lifted, just doesnt have any fenders...

it is an offroad/winter car. i have another car that is daily driver

  13. suspension lift on a subaru means broken CV axles. get yourself a body lift, and SJR makes some really high-quality ones.

as for the wheels, they will have a large impact on what kind of tires you can get for what price. do some tire research before you get new wheels.

ok so yeah i will look at body lifts then.

"stearing shaft must be lengthened (not offered at SJRLIFT )" how do you go about doing that?

  14. ok so i am going over my motor making sure everything is good. ( 87 suabaru dl wagon 1.8L 5 speed)the only thing i really have left is a problem with the carb. as of right now the only way that it will run right is if the choke is almost fully closed. if i open it up and give it gas it will just suck air. i have been meaning to hook a gauge to the fuel line but haven't had time yet. what are some other ideas you guys have?maybe adjust the float??
