  1. Do a search for "Tick of Death" or TOD.

Will it stop? Yes most certainly...... eventually it will be made into soda cans.

I came up with no luck on how to fix it besides the ATF trick. But my noise started as soon as i got my motor back together so it must be some thing i did. Any suggestions on what i should do to fix this.

    Thanks Jason

  2. ok well i reconnected all of the vacuum lines. I had a few not plugged in. I went for another test drive and it still does the same thing but the intake piece does not blow off any more because i tightened real good. Once i hit 3k rpm now the car just takes off, it is fast and i know that something is not right.

    Thanks Jason:banana:

  3. I have a 87 gl with a ea82 turbo under the hood and when i get to about 3 grand the turbo really kicks in and goes for a second and then my intake thing that says "4wd turbo" the silver thing blows off above the throttle body. Then my car shuts down and i have to put it back on and this process repeats if i hit over 3k RPMs. Anything you guys think of that would cause this to do this.

    Thanks alot

  4. I know someone that is towing 2 snow mobiles with his 87 gl ea82. Its about 1500 pounds. Is that too much weight for a soob. The hitch he has has 4 bolts that go into the bumper and 4 that go into the bottom of the cargo area in the trunk. Just curious if that is a good idea or if its fine.

    Thanks Jason

  5. Of the last 4 EA82t engines I'[ve torn down, ALL of them have the BTV cracks. Those are pretty much fine, as long a the valve seats are still in place.

5 of the 8 heads had exhaust crack as well(it's worth mention that a few of these motors ran, pretty well actually, even with the cracks, they don't ALWAYS go through to the waterjacket.)BUT,... I'd say it's pretty damn hard to find uncracked heads used. And new or "rebuilt" heads cost $200-400 dollars, depending on source.

In contrast, welding my heads cot me $60 per head. That was at a racing specialist in Wisconsin, buit I'm sure there is somneone in you're neck of the woods. Talk to the local sprint track guys.

    ok thanks guys

  6. I have a 88 gl ea82 non turbo fuel injected. and when i start it up cold it idles at about 3 grand for a long time. it will idle that high until i get to a stop light thats about 5 miles away from my home. Then it will idle just fine but it just takes to long to idle right. Also if i put a radiater in from a 90 loyale automatic will that help my cooling. Does the loyale have a 2 row radiater. And mine is a one row.

    Thanks Jason

  7. thanks for your help i will use fel pro's. What should i torque them too. And what any other advice on what to replace or reseal while my motor is out. Also what is the gasket called that is in between the head and the cam. I can't find where to get those at, im pretty sure they are not the valve cover gasket. I can find those all over websites.

    Thanks, Jason
