  1. They are so good, in fact, that Toyota is using them in their new sports car, the FT-86. What I read said Subaru is making their own version of the car as well. Nothing against Toyota, but I would definitely go with the AWD Subaru version over their RWD one.

subaru might actually use the car to go back to 2wd, but their wanting to put a high revving 2.0 in it with 200+hp

  2. rears aren't even close, so no go there.

    Front:

fronts will depend - yes if it's a wagon but won't be a straight bolt-on affair. will require some tweaking.

    if it's a non-turbo you'll need the axle solution.

you'll need different struts and larger wheels for the larger brakes.

for larger EJ brakes you'll need 16" (some 15") for huge stuff you'll be even more restricted with wheels.

i'm already swapped to 5 lug status my friend just no money to finish hooking up my standalone EJ20R with T3/T4 and started thinking about how much power i plan to put out in the future and wondered. i think in the end i'm going for the WRX 4pot setup in front and get some rear e-brake calipers that'll fit.

  3. well i had to get a car since my 85 camaro decided to start tearing its frame apart so i got my old forester back from my parents (long story). i'm not liking the brakes. sadly ,in many ways ,the rear has .what is needed to swap this to disc? nice performance pads for front: what do i get?

i also love its look but i would love it more an inch lower. keep reading alot of stuff and i'll tell you this now, i'm not paying 400 for the FSTi pinks.

my other mods i wanna do in a few months when my buick is paid out is go to an unequal length header with a catback, and improve on the intake since i know you can't do the whole thing like the older 2.5l cars. might even do sway/links. my wagon will have to wait til about the same time to get finished sadly. can't afford nothing for a while now.

BTW if anyone here owns(or knows someone with) a 3rd gen camaro, be weary of the frame cracking then busting behind the steering box. mine was so bad that when i hit bumps one of my front wheels wobbled. then my father tells me it was common. my buddys uncle then says it was almost known when they built them as he worked the norwood plant here in ohio where they built camaros. he knew it for sure cause he worked on them after being in the plant.

  4. My RS had Head gasket issues soon after I bought it right around 115,000. But they all seem to have that problem.....ALL OF THEM!! Even the ones I've seen that aren't leaking, start soon after. But the 2.5 turbos do not have these issues. And a little info I was informed that all I have to do to get to STi power is, STi intercooler, turbo(VF39), and STi computer. All of which bolts and plugs right in without mod. I would love to!! And hopefully will at some point. It already goes REALLY good!! It's a blast.

back when that came out a guy on nasioc was running 13.9's in his stock. had the slips posted too.

just go with a downpipe, catback, and cobb STG2. the TD04 is mainly low end but can still make some power

  5. http://www.frozenrotors.com offers a selection of slotted, drilled, and cryo treated rotors for EA82s (listed as XT coupe....but we all know it'll work on other EA82s) and XT6s. I'll be getting some stuff from them, as soon as I figure out what brake setup I'll be using :-\

wow i paid less for a whole Stg2 setup on my old wrx from stoptech than 4 XT6 rotors from them. it had pads, rotors,Stainless braided lines, and 2 bottles of street/racing fluid.

anyways i want good pads but now i see i cant. so this frustrates me.

  6. If you want to keep up with the WRX's, get a WRX.

By the time you spent all the money, time and effort to swap another engine into the RX, you would have paid for half of a WRX.

Then after upgrading the suspension, etc, your looking at even more $$$.

And I definitely know what and where the Dragon is.

this is something i have to chime in on but it depends on what you can source and what you know. my wagon with my ej swap and all will come in somewhere in the range of 5-6k, but i'm making alot of my own stuff and working with what little i got. i had a wrx and loved it, this car will never replace it but damn't just can't beat 20 bux a month for liability insurance!

oh and the end result of a killer handling car with 350hp and the ability to tune as i feel.

  7. OMG! at this rate your car should be running by like... next summer.

J/K Russ... keep at it. :-p

i started on mine febuary....last year but i bought a harder motor to install and modified a bunch of stuff. but atleast i only got a standalone to wire in and two fans.

ej22t seems popular these days for 165hp

  8. One part at a time.

So the Loyale doesn't have enough get-up-and-go when loaded down (or empty for that matter) and I'm heading towards and EJ swap. Downside is I can't afford it all at once. So I'm looking to pick up an engine, ecu, harness and minor bits. Then go all out with a trans, AWD and 5 lug swap at a later date.

I'm looking to put in a EJ20T and wanted to see if it was a smart idea to get the engine first, do a once over (breakdown/replace gaskets) then try to find the ECU/Harness?

Right now I'm not too worried about the trans as the EA82 still functions after a recent rebuild. So if I get the adapter, install the 20 and blow the stock trans I'm not going to shed too much of a tear.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Luke

look up Jhot imports. they sell full swaps which usually include even axles and factory airboxes. just depends on what they got. you'd spend 800+ on just a motor depending on what year and car or 12-1400 on the whole thing. shipping would be like 200bux.

  9. im sure he has 5 lug since he is looking for a rim offset in a 17inch and the fact he has been here for years.

hell yeah 5 lug. it was cheaper to go get them from virginia myself at the time too so i drove from cincinnati to roanoke in one day to have them.

trying to figure out if a should go with normal wrx offsets or not. don't have the normal tools to measure stuff like that

  10. Still haven't decided yet. However, I've actually been entertaining the idea of putting her on life support, until I can acquire a new engine, then toss it in and attempt to bring her back to life. Heck, if I can replace the clutch without a shop, and only hand tools, a floor jack, and jackstands available, replacing the engine should be a piece of cake with an engine hoist and a garage.

i'm guessing you don't do alot of mechanical? my dad and I pulled a V8 outta my 69 tempest, replaced rod/main bearings also oil pump without even removing the crank put it back together and cleaned it all in one day then put it in the car the next. all outside.

you should really ask yourself what was going on with your car while you were gone.

  11. yep, the setup pictured above in the red car is that one you're thinking of. I'm using the exact same blower.

problem is, he's greedy. always upping the boost, and using the nitrous. and he's still running a PP6 for "management"......so yea, he goes through motors.

I will be staying more cautious with my boost levels, and have a fully tunable standalone ECU.

i think he didn't have an IC which you really want with any eaton running decent boost. wish i could afford one for my 98 regal gs.

  12. i just played with this tonight. here is all i know after 6 hours of head scratching. and mix and match.... svx and 1991 3.9 vlsd will not interchange. the stub axles on the 3.9 look just like the axle ends on the 3.54 vlsd out of the svx but the iner most splines are biger on the svx axle then on the 3.9. also the svx axles have a differnt spline count on the axle then a legacy so you cant use the cage off the svx axle on a legacy acle because it wont go on the shaft. anyway i finaly just swaped the carier so i now have a 3.9vlsd with the lsd part from the svx. that way i can put the 3.9vlsd behind my turbo legacy trany that is going in the svx..... i didnt do an exhaustive search of the axles but i did try early legacy axles and mid 90 legacy axles. i didnt try any 2000+ axles though......
good info, weird as i always thought most axles were the same except the minor changes.
  13. youcould also just grind grooves into stub axles from an earlier model anbd mate them that way using circlips like the actual axles do.......cheers, brian

i was thinking that too. wasn't sure if the length would be the same though on the stubs. if i went to a pull and pay again with some pry bars i could get nice used ones for $23ea. their a pain to get out and i wasn't sure how hard they were to get out. if the fronts were the same length as the back on both accounts i got two leg and two Xt6 fronts. thanks for the idea as i might try it and see unless someone already knows....
