hey i think i fixed it, turns out there was this tube that wasn't connected to my carb and my idle speed was a bit low I'm still gonna get the carb cleaner to see if there is anything else wrong but i figured i should update

looks like I'm finding a 4spd dual range sell me one for 100 bucka hahahaha, jk i wish if/when i do get one I'll be buggin you all for conversion help though, i like having one extra gear

So car was running good, then all of a sudden dies.... i figured it was a leak that i hadn't caught... vacuum wise but then everytime i started it the rpms dropped and wouldn't hold at all, then died again..... but it was workin fine ten minutes before that.......argh.....

oh trust me I'm obsessed haha, i want to get another one for the weekend drive preferable a 5 spd brat (if they exsist?) haha

you could always float the gears lol nah check the cable I'm thinkin thats the problem too

Oh I've seend them, and a true soobie always turns their head at another from what I've seen thus far..... I just wanna find some people to ride around with, maybe work on the soobs with together, it's tough in the streets haha! What part of DFW are ya in?

So on my 81 DL it seems like anytime i take a turn on sit on a hill for too long my engine can't handle lower rpm's (anything below 1k) and it dies on me... now the sticker under the hood says the rpm's in idle should be at 700 +/- 100 rpm any clue on what it could be? oh and it doesn't hold a steady rpm at any time if that helps any..... My VW didn't have much but i so miss feelin that super charger do it's work and throw me back a bit... hearin the high pitch whine as i race through the higher end RPMs..... i wish i could put one on my soob without damaging the engine ;.;

Thanks both of you, I'm sure my DL SEDAN (lol) wasn't made for F-1 down shifts but i didn't know if the scratching was screwin it up or what, and i thought maybe somethin had been screwed up before i bought it... i figured it would shift but it wouldn't be good for it.... Frank your oil swap thing is just for cleaning right? and would tightening that cable help it not scratch too or would i still have to rev match??

thats so awesome, imagine if we could get everyone on usmb to meet up there one day, that could be a blast, but alsa would probably never happen

I also had one more question, it seems like my tranny likes to scratch if i try and down shift and I'm not going the right speed, clutch in and everything but it just scratches and I'm afraid to put it in gear, I know i've got more rpms to wrack up in the gear I'm tryin to downshift to

i was looking at the distributor looks almost like it has already been advanced? i don't know if it actually was o if thats the stock possitioning, it is completely covered in old oil and dirt so it could be stock,, but i don't see how i could advance it from where it's at now meh...i just put a tach in it though, making it that much more fun to shift, i didn't really need one but it's a convienience to have... I'm pretty sure i found a manual for the engine diagram and all that fun stuff, it's chilton, but at least i found one... and I think I've settled with the fact that it'll never be a 10 second car, so the next thing i'm dumping all my cash into is the look of it lol, I'll have to start posting pics if you guys care to see it Thanks alot for all the info I'm putting all of it to use

Wow, I'm gonna come visit you, i have one small winding trail by me that Ive found, and yeah numb most of the time it's all traction for me, but i love to push it and force a give way i wish my DL was awd ah well, nothin like feelin fast in a small car and knowin you can take that 70 degree turn at close to 50 maybe higher

i wish i had a gravel area around here, but at least someone gets me

Ever get the urge where they just want to hop in their car and take it out to a curvy road and just drive your heart out? Feeling the grip break free on the back for a slight second when you drop down to second halfway through a left hand turn and not a moment later feel the front 2wd (or awd/4wd for some) throw your back end back in line to give you a powerful exit as you leave the turn only to enter a sharper right hand turn in which you feel the back end whip around with the sound of squealing tires as you drift around the turn and exit the turn with the same powerful exit as before with a big grin or your face? Just imagine the scream of the engine and the sqeal of the tires with pull from the torque as the car throws you back in the seat... Know what i mean? Man i love driving
