  1. NSI aero brought these engines in from Japan to use for their aircraft version. Contact Lance or Craig at info@nsiaero.com
  2. ken and eric, what a great time at Hood River. As a lot of people have said, good people,l lots of older baru's and young people with innovative ideas. I want to volunteer to help out next year. Watching you guys do your stuff, it seems some help would ease the load some. I hope the same location is available or something similar. The "mud pit" was too much fun to watch. You guys with the off road cars are something else. Once again, thank you very much. Bob
  3. I took the brat for a road test this weekend and a front end alignment. with the addition of the power steering, the alignment guy said that the caster has to be changed. It steers to easy. So I added a 1/2" washer to the stabilizer bar trailing the lower arm which pushes the lower arm forward adding caster. Went out again and it steers better, especially at 80mph. Too bad the speedometer doesn't go any higher. Lots of power and torque in 5th gear. Photographs are coming and I will bring them to Hood River. Scott Morgan at Scotts shop did the wiring and evenn though he has had enough of Subarus for a while he is willing to pass on what he did. Contact scott at 425 222 4696 or motormek2@centurytel.net. Next project is to clean up the engine compartment wiring and hoses and ready for paint. Also going to finish undercoating the wheelwells etc. and paint the engine compartment in the fall. Body work after that and paint in the early spring. I am looking forward to seeing you guys at Hood River. Bob
  4. My 83 Brat with a 92 Legacy 2.2 w/5sp awd trans runs finally.Goes like crazy. Next part is to clean up the wiring harness and start to do body and undercoating. Will add photos some time soon. Bob
  5. I wanted to add about my Brat project, it was necessary to mount a pusher cooling fan to the front of the radaitor. With the EJ22 engine there is not enough room for a fan in the factory location. Bob
  6. Hello all, my name is Bob Barci, I own the 82 hatchback in this thread. I am currently working on an 83 Brat that I have installed a 92 EJ22 with 5 speed transmission in from a 95 Legacy. Approximately 3/4" clearance on each side of the engine to the frame/body. The engine is fron a 92 Legacy, the crossmember is from a 84 GL10 turbo 4WD wagon w/power steering. I plumbed the power steering pump from the EJ22 to the 84 ps steering. The engine mount holes in the cross member had to elnogated approximately 3/4" for the engine mount bolts. The front drive shafts are connected to the transmission via double offset joint cups from aLegacy Turbo 91-94. I used a Loyale spi fuel pump, and installed rear disc brakes from a 88 turbo wagon. Wiring harness is from a 92 Legacy being installed by my friend Scott Morgan at his rod shop www.scottstreetrods.com. Some custom work necessary to make it fit so far; lengthen the drive shaft to the differential approx 6 1/2 inches, shorten the 5 speed shift linkage so it is located in the center of the hole in the floor, and an adaptor to connect the 5speed rubber mounts to the stock transmission mount. It doesn't run yet, I'll keep you posted. I plan to have it on the road in about a year. Tha 82 Baru was a 3 year project (1000 hours) and the brat is looking the same. Bob
