Hi USMBers, happy holidays:drunk: - I have a 95 legacy L 2.2 manual - 147k - been bouncing around some rutted roads lately, and think I may need some strut work - it was "tracking" to the right when I let go of the wheel (not really "Pulling") - tires are pretty new, air pressure is right on the money. Dumped it at the Midas near work last Friday, didn't tell them any symptoms, just asked for a 4-wheel alignment. Headed out and on the highway, it is still tracking right. I am thinking now perhaps the struts could need replacing..? They are original equipment. I am into Midas for $60-ish already(for the alignment), I may drop it there tomorrow and have him see what is up. Is it worth shopping around, or should prices be pretty uniform for this? Any advice/price estimates re:strut work for a 95 Legacy appreciated!

Help me out here. I have a 95 2.2 Legacy that has been great, but due to a new longer commute, I will probably have to get a newer vehicle after the winter. I never buy new, so I am looking for a used vehicle. Although I love the AWD, good mileage and cargo space of the Subaru wagon, I am leaning away from Subaru just because of the head gasket issues with the 2.5 engine. I don't need any $2000 surprises. Can anyone convince me to stay with Subaru and not defect? Talk to me! :-\

From the NON MISSION CRITICAL department: 95 Legacy: The leather shifter knob is kinda trashed after getting dust off my hands from sanding oil primer on it(was in a rush from job, didn't wash hands good) - ate the surface off - anyways, I started to unscrew it and it seems to integrate with the leather boot thru some sort of collar underneath? I just screwed it back and figured I would ask here first before I messed it up = has anyone changed shift knobs, and know how this collar works, also what aftermarket shift knobs would work? Thanks!

Thanks - I have a used starter I picked up on EBAY I am going to slap in today(I am laid off, and it is still warm out so I will do that this a.m.) - I am curious how to replace these "contacts" on the bad one, I may just do it and have a spare again- my HAYNES manual shows how to separate the solonoid from the starter, but it doesn't say how to service these "contacts" - can any of y'all advise me on this? (and where to get new contacts?)

Hi all - 95 2.2 manual Legacy - starter clicks occasionally but eventually turns over - is this maybe the solonoid contacts, can this be solved by cleaning contacts, or should I just go ahead and replace the starter/solonoid unit altogether? It lookds like an easy swap. As usual, all input appreciated!

Hi, starter made a weird noise, but seems OK now, so time to find another starter for when that day inevitably comes. My question is, which other legacy starters will fit mine - does it have to be from a manual tranny, will a 91-94 2.2 fit?, and will one out of a 2.5 fit? Any knows how these cross-reference, I would appreciate the "4-1-1" - Thanks!
