I just got a 91 legacy wagon 5sp and I need to know more about it. I have a 87 GL that shat out on me so all im familiar with is the late 80's carb and not the new FI engine. Any info about that engine year or sites that I can get more info and specs would be awesome

Where can I find a decent selection of performance parts for a 91 legacy wagon? I'm looking for a intake but cant really find one. I'm getting the wag here soon for free, im pretty stoke.d

The engine temp gauge isnt working, and the engine is getting a bit hotter than it should, but not to an extreme point. I wouldnt be suprised if the gaskets are shot. Before I had the subie she was sitting in a driveway for a while and there was a period of neglect since she's been in my possesion. Does anyone know where I can find decently priced gaskets and seals?

My '87 GL Wag is currently facing clutch or tranny problems, so I have been making sure to be running it as often as possible for obvious reasons. The other day I was running her for a good hour or so and when I went to turn off the engine, there was a boiling noise coming from the coolant resivoir. The engine didnt seem too hot but it could have certainly been cooler. My thermostat hasnt been working even after replacing it(the gauge doesnt respond). Does anyone know what could be going on? I got into a fender bender which punched a hole in my radiator which got replaced with a rebuilt one, could it be a clogged line?

My '87 GL wagon does the whole de-acceleration exhaust crackle/popping. I thought it was backfiring but after taking a closer look I found that my exhaust is just shot to ************. Still working on replacing it...:-\

I'm pretty sure my clutch is shot in my 87 5sp GL wagon. I was wondering what mileage others may have had problems with their clutches or trannys. I know alot of problems can be pretty relevant to the mileage. I dont know the exact mileage since I havent been in my car for a couple years due to its lack of working. Its just chilling out at my moms place, waiting to be resurrected.

i'm still a little confused about the different kinds of 32/36 carbs. theres the DVG, DGEV, DGAV, and DFEV. I thought that my '87 GL Wagon 5sp. was a manual choke but I'm not positive.

I'm going to be getting a 5-speed '91 Legacy wagon for free here soon and i am wondering what kind of performance upgrades this model will handle. All I'm used to dealing with is my '87 GL so I dont know what design differences there are. I could use as many ideas as possible.

My '87 GL has been having electrical problems. The most obvious problem is that the cd deck will randomly not work at all. I noticed that a power cable from the deck is connected directly to the posotive battery cable. My left headlight got a rock chip, thus allowing moisture into it and shorting it out. Could this be causing problems with my whole electrical system? I was thinking about going to pick-a-part and getting a new(old) headlight fixture. The car has spent some years in a driveway so I think that I may need to just replace some of the wiring due to moisutre and whatnot.

it does shift when the car is off. another thing that has been wierd about the car is that i dont have to push the clutch in to start it. I know that in most 5-speeds you need to have the clutch engaged to start the car. is replacing the clutch yourself very difficult?

My '87 GL Wagon totally shat out on me and I dont really want to spend the money on taking it into the mechanic to find out that I could have just fixed or adjusted something myself. It all started when I was having troubles shifting into 1st-3rd gear. Unfortunately I kept driving with it like this until it just couldnt shift into 1st at all (lazy me). I finally got a little money and decided to start from the cheapest fix by replacing the clutch cable. This helped a bit but when I force it into 1st the car dies. Does anyone know if this is a common Suby problem and if I can get it fixed fairly easily?

does anyone know where i can find a good rebuild kit for an 87 gl wagon 1.8L carb?

I am thinking about making a fitting to put my friends old turbo from an laser and adding a air intake onto my 1.8 87 gl carb. WIll this work and/or would it be bad for my car?

I tried starting a thread asking about any useful mods, but most of the feedback required money. Does ANYONE know any good and effective cheap tricks to boost the performance of my '87 GL carb? I dont care if its illegal (that would actually make it a bit more fun:brow: ) but some feedback would be much appreciated.

yeah i wasnt really talking along the "looks" side of things, more performance. I know there are things that you can do to some cars without any money, legal or not, but im just wondering if there are any sooby specific tweaks that can be done.

I was wondering if anybody knows of anything i can do with my 87 GL for free to make it a bit more "customized" as far as the engine or body go. Any tricks/tips would be helpful.

There is a "ticking" noise that sounds like its coming from my alternator. At first it happened every once and a while but now it is doing it pretty much all the time and at a louder level. The ticking speeds up with the RPM's... does anybody know what it is/ how i can fix it?

does anybody know a good online store where i can find some parts for my sooby? im finding parts left and right but im never sure if it will work with my GL

its aalllllll about the money at this point... any tips on replacing the exhaust system on my car (money, difficulty, etc.)? i dont mean the whole thing, just the pipes are a wee bit rusty and worn out

thanks for the advice but would it be possible and how hard would it be to install a turbo and what about that MSD coil? Is it compatable or no?

what about a MSD Blaster High Vibration Coil? would it be compatable?
