  1. So, I'm looking to purchase a 1987 RX and i was looking for suggestions on possibly modifing the engine for just a little more power. I know full and well that these engines have their share of problems and that the platform is pretty much dead, but i enjoy the car and engine just the same. I've heard about adding a WRX intercooler and turbo, New exhausts, and intakes. I was curious about any fuel system and ignition system modifications that work as well. Any thoughts?
  2. I bought an 85 GL wagon out of a yard and got it running. Starts and runs great for about a quarter mile and then stumbles. if I pump the gas I can keep it running but the minute I try to move it just stumbles flat on it's face. I'm thinking it might be water in the gas, possible bad choke, or that I have a fuel delivery problem in the pump, filter, or carb. I added water remover and am waiting overnight to see if it makes any difference. If anyone has the same experience or ideas, I'd love to know. I'm not too shure if it matters but it is the hitachi carb.
  3. if so, what else could make that idler release tension? I'm removing the tensioner this weekend. I'll take pictures and document my findings for the site.
  4. Does anyone have any info on the proper procedure for a timing belt tensioner replacement? I know there is a unique oiling procedure and I'd like to know how. Thanks!
