  1. Howdy Y'all,

Got another problem for the board. I was driving my car this morning at about 1 am ( just got off work ) and I heard a strange thumping griding noise coming from about my left foot. I slowed down, pulled over, had a look, nothing was physically missing, and got back in and went to let out the clutch (while in first gear ) and apply a little gas. All that happened was a grinding noise and a lurch forward. I tried again a few times, but nothing happened. So I got to walk home (only about 2 miles, but still) at 1 am. Does anyone here have ANY idea of what could cause these symptoms? Does this sound like a CV boot problem, Tranny, or something else? Everyone's expertise would be very helpful.

  2. Does removing the A/C and PS really have much difference on power output (remember, we're talkin a whopping 97 horses) on an 86 XT? How hard would it be to do this? (I've searched but haven't found much material on this) What about swapping out the mechanical radiator for an electric one? Any replies would be great.

  3. I just installed an Accel Super Stock coil about a half hour ago!(Finally). Working by flashlight really sucks, and so do rusted coil brackets! The throttle response has improved respectably, although I still need to get new wires and plugs. What are the best wires/plugs to use?

  4. Howdy Y'all,

Got another question for anyone game. My 86 Xt has 140,000 miles on it, and everything seems fine. The only problem is that whenever I go to stop, and downshift into first gear, if I am going over about 5-10 miles and hour it makes a terrible GRINDing  sound. The shifter physically shakes, and makes a lot of noise. However, when I am completely stopped or just going really slow it is fine. All the other gears work, downshift works, etc. Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing this? Cost involved to fix this? Any help would be great.
