  1. You say 'them' is/are there more than one oxygen sensor? If so, are they located together (grouped)? The wrench......can I buy it at crappytire (canadian) or do I need to order it via my import dealer? Thanks for the replies, MB
  2. How hard is it to change the oxygen sensor? specific direction would be appreciated..thanks.
  3. Hi all, i have a 93 AWD Wagon. Runs great but: When i start to accelerate....it shakes badly....once it shifts into second gear 'it' goes away, but when I first drop it into drive and begin to accelerate it shakes the whole damn car.....almost as if I was driving on snooze strips (on side of highways...) Im thinking its one of the two universal joints.....never changed'em before any tips? Thanks, MB
  4. Hi All, time for an emission test! Pretty sure we're in good shape, just had a catalytic converter put on....but was wondering: How much is an Oxygen Sensor and how hard would it be for me to change? Im pretty good with cars and wonder if its not something I should just change if its not to expensive...or should I have a mechanic do it? Any thoughts on passing emission's tests in general would also be appreciated.. Like I say, the car is in good shape and passed a few years ago, but Ive heard lots of horror stories also, so just thought id go in prepared. Thanks!
  5. Meant to get back awhile ago and say 'thanks' to yo'all! The grand-prize (firm handshake), goes to greyghost with the faulty-plug- wire suggestion. $50(cdn.) and the problem is gone, gone, gone! Thanks!
  6. Hi all, ive looked around to see if there is a 'like' post and didn't find one. Has anyone seen or heard of this problem: My 93 Legacy Wagon, which runs great, looks great....has a strange intermittment idiling problem.... When the engine is cold, here in canada eh!, its fine, but as it warms up and im stopped at a red light its starts to feel like its gonna stall, but doesn't instead it recovers and conttinues to 'studder'....there is no problem when i drive though. The problem seems to be connected to the charging system because when i turn the hearter off it runs better and it also tends not to do this if its in park...? ...My CAA guys says my alternator is in good shape.. Ive changed the plugs, and my dealer couldn't figure it out he said to wait till it gets worse and the engine light comes on so that the onboard computer would have a decodable message of the problem. any thoughts?
  7. Thanks for the replies...not sure about the disty cap. but i believe the plugs and wires have been replaced recently. It is time for its 'check-up'...infact i think its a few months past its service scheduled tune up....anyone know how much these visits are and whether they do gas filter flushes during these visits? I'll obviously call today and ask these same questions just wondering if anyone has an idea of what to expext......just had it in last week for a $700 (cdn) cadalitic converter (spelling). again, guys thanks alot for your input, helps alot!
  8. Hi all, i had a question about my 1993 subaru legacy wagon (2.2L, 4 cylinder): I get this hesitation/studder when i give it gas. When im at a stop light or if im traveling 110km an hour.....i'll give it gas to pass another car and i get this studder, lack of power. I know a bit about cars, and guess that its something like a dirty gas filter or fouled jets. The car recently (feb 2003), so one year ago, had a new gas tank and fuel lines put in.....this was before i owned the car... The problem has gotten progressively worse over the past three months it started as more of a slamming feel whe you first gave it gas....that is to say it was hard to get the car to just move nicely along at low speeds....now its more like a studder. I dunno, im going on and on here...just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem? thanks, jay
