yeah, you can get the nut out with a punch, be REALLY carefull of the threads.

You should be able to remove the lower shock bolt and pull the lower arm down enough to slide the axle off of the stub without having to mess with the diff :-\

My 1997 OB is on it's third set of michelins, the ones that came on it. Great mileage, 170,000 and the third set is still at 30%. Have always gone everywhere I wanted, even in deep snow and on ice covered roads. A little spendy, but worth it in the long run.

With no weight on the wheels, a lot of times they will "friction spin" completely normal, should stop very easily with weight applied. Definitely worse when cold

Many years ago while working at an Audi dealership, There was a recall campaign for the differential gear oil level on automatic 5000's. The purpose of the campaign was to check and fill the oil to the proper level. The reason was that to check the oil level it was a pain and in a hard to get to place, and no one ever did it. The oil levels were always low ( some VERY low ) with no visual signs of leakage. Where did the oil go? Would you believe that gear oil will actually evaporate over an extended period of time? I had never heard of this before, but was given this explanation by a pair of german engineers who had worked on the campaign. Whether this is true or not, I have found many differentials over the years that were very low , without any visible leakage!:-\

Nasty!!! The thing that i have run into before is when things come apart at any kind of rpm, pieces can end up everywhere. I blew up a 2.3 ford in a mini stock one time and had lifters in the intake under the carb.

Scooby, thanks for the idea of the 4x100 honda wheels, that sounds very good to me. I could go to 16 inch and have many wheel and tire choices.

Hey there, have a 1988 RX, looking for wider wheels, 6 to 8 inch. To mount race tires on ( autocross ). Dont want to convert to 5 lug, the car has 58000 miles on it, all stock and very clean. Any ideas?

The factory sunroofs on these cars do not totally seal, by design they all leak slightly. The water that gets by the seals runs down to the bottom of the car via 4 drains (one in each corner) Very common that these drains will get clogged so the water has no where to go except into the car. Usually you will find the front ones are the culprits, they exit behind the front inner fenders in the mudflap area. clean these out real good and you probably will be ok. Great find for the money...

If you can, raise all 4 wheels off of the ground at the same time (jackstands, or hoist), start the car and place it in gear, with the wheels rotating, carefully listen to the knuckle housing with a stethoscope or through a long screwdriver once again..CAREFULLY.. If the bearing is bad you will be able to hear it.

Sounds like possibly the spring on the shift linkage was not reinstalled.

Have run into fuel problems on cold start several times. Will start hard and then die, after a couple of times will start and run ok, discovered that the poor volatility of some gasolines has a major effect on cold starts, clears up due to cylinder temperature coming up and excess fuel in cylinders from cranking and stalling. If this is the case, usually is easily cured by switching brand of fuel, or by adding a high quality fuel additive, such as lucas.

Some brands of air filters dont seal very well, or are of poor quality construction.

Possibly a bad bearing in the trans, might not be as noticeable in higher gears because of different rpm's, road noise etc.

The turbo engines have lower compression ( not sure of the numbers off the top of my head ), when used in a non turbo setting would definitely be lacking power.
