is that hot springs MT???? crazy.

I have a 1988 GL10 AWD MPFI Turbo 5-speed. What is the sensor on top on the thermostat housing? It has a two wire connector on top and two ~1/2" OD lines running to the intake. What is this thing? The two lines have cracks in them and i think that might be where my intermittent idle rpm comes from??? Sometimes it idles at 700, sometimes 1100 and sometimes 2100. Ideas? Thanks.

Any ideas where I can find a factory service manual for my 1988 GL10 AWD Turbo Wagon? There is one on Ebay for $75 but I don't want to spend that much... thanks.
