  1. I checked fuse 5 it controls the horn and the flashers along with the clock. Took the fuse out and checked voltage. Its perfect along with the fuse. I checked the fusible links and voltage is perfect as well. I must make note that the clock hasn't been working since I got the car. It would just be a series of lines and then ceased to function at all. The car is really like new. I am quite perplexed by the entire episode.
  2. How do you get to it. I took off the panel and dropped the ECU out of the way. I see a brown plastic (small) box on top of the mounting bracket for the steering column. Is this it?
  3. I checked all fuses and fusible links, coil ohms, and battery ground. The car has 28,000 original miles. The T-belts are perfect. I have no CEL light when I turn the ignition to the on position. The engine cranks over fine. ?????? I did have the CEL on prior to the no spark situation. I did my run around stuff and stopped at the DMV. When I came out and started the car it died. I restarted it 3 or 4 times before it stayed running and went directly home. Once home I started it again and it died before I got out of the driveway. Played with the fuses and such and just for kicks I hit the key and it took right off. Backed it up to the garage and shut it off. Went to restart the car and noticed I had no CEL at all and car would not fire up. I did the usual gas/spark check. I need advice. No light coming from ECU either. I would really appreciate some help with this problem as this is our primary vehicle. Thanks.
  4. Thank you guys very much! I don't have any lights, high or low. I was in a icy, sleety, snowy mix and they just went out at the same time. I checked everything I could with the booklet that cam with the car. Fuses and fuse links. I will check the grounds first and go from there. I think you guys are very nice to help a new subaru owner. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again!
  5. The year is 1993. It is a loyale 4 door front wheel drive. Everything works as it should except the headlights. I mean everything works but the headlights. Dash board lights are fine. I need to check the codes. How do you do this procedure? I need to find a proper manual as the chilton manual I picked up at autozone is worthless! I will keep looking for relays. Thanks.
  6. I checked the fuses and the fusible links and all is good. The check engine light came on prior to the headlights going out. Everything else works as it should. How do you get the codes so you can find what is wrong. Autozone said they have no scan tool for this model. My chiltons manual is all but worthless and tells me that there is a self diagnosis procedure, but doesn't tell me how to go about doing so. I am new to subaru and do have some mechanical ability. The car has 26,566 actual miles and lived in Florida all its life. I had this problem on the trip back to Indiana at night in a white out! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
