  1. 136.00 plus 31.00 a day, yeah probably more than it's worth, but then again, the buyer isn't on the hook for the fee, the seller is, so a little money's better than none. . . . . . .
  2. 84 GL 4x2 Wagon, wrecked and impounded in Seattle. Original EA81 engine w/less than 50000 on her. front end, fenders, hood and driver door bent to s**t, drive train intact though. Make me an offer that includes bailing it off the impound lot and it could be yours. I reserve the right to be sorry to see her go. contact me on nallehjd@aol.com for particulars.
  3. I have to agree about lack of road salts being the main reason for plenteous Subies in the NW. Also we don't really have 4 seasons, just 2, Spring and Fall.
  4. EGR Solenoids and Oxygen Sensors for us diehard carbed stockers.
  5. Pull-A-Part comes through again, but I found only one 80-84 in the yard, though their inventory sez they had four. Thanks to all and $2.50 beats $170.00 any ol' day of the week.
  6. I live in Seatown, but anywhere in the Puget Sound basin is close enough, given what the dealers want to charge for that crappy little piece of plastic.
  7. Carter Subaru lists my front right clearance lamp (#784451100) at $140.00 plus tax, they have one in their Atlanta, GA warehouse. I'm thinking I could probably find one through USMB or a wrecking yard somewhere, and perhaps save some money along the way. Anybody got one (or the pair) they'd be willing to part with? I'd reimburse for shipping or pick them up if close enough to Seattle area.
  8. My vote is for time and temperature over damage. My 19 year old Wagon had been idle for the 8 years prior to me buying it, and lightly driven the 11 years before that. (19 years and 41000 miles). The front leftmost light (there are four) worked on high beam only and was 1/3 full of water when I went to replace it, but there was no obvious damage to the lamp. So, now I assume that condensate seeped along the inside of a dried and shrunken 19 year old seal over several wet seasons and resulted in both the water and the filament failure.:cornfuzz:
  9. Thanks folks, I hadn't heard the bit about the timer and multiple codes. If there are multiple codes, shall I brush up on my morse code dictation to get 'em all recorded at once, or are the flashes distinct and slow enough for an old burn out like me to get ';em the first time?
  10. The ecm light on my stock carbed 84 GL Wagon has come on after about five miles of highway driving until I pumped in 12 gallons of 92 octane instead of my usual 89. Now the light comes on after 8 miles. I guess my question should be: Will the light stay off if I use airplane fuel?
  11. Coming off of a stop my throwout bearing is starting to complain a little, a little more with 2 or three people in the car. I've got an original 1984 EA81 5 speed with about 45k on the clock. Is it clutch kit time for the holidays?
  12. For an eight-three subie?, I wouldn't bother. Their fee schedule is less than, but not much less than dealer work on your newer car. There's a couple of Soob mechanics in and around Seattle that might be pretty good, just like those Volkswagen guys. If you can't/won't do the work yourself, IMHO anybody reputable can do the general maintainence things. A carburetor shop will rebuild an electrically controlled carburetor for less than $300.00 (Hondas and Subies both have same issues). Read here about ECM issues (EGR solenoids and Oxygen Sensors mainly) and get 'em done at your local muffler shop, again probably cheaper than a place like Greg's or Carter. Carter is good about oem parts though.
  13. A runner should fetch between 650 and 1200 USD, my 84 was a garage queen with 40000 on her and I gladly paid 800
