  1. my marking dissolved off of my tags where the fuel hoses connect to the engine. could anyone take a pic or has a pic of their fuel hoses so i can get it all on properly. thanx a bunch!
  2. i live in bellingham, wa....how much do you want for it.... i need it asap! thanx a bunch!
  3. broke a relay while putting my drivetrain in on my 95 impreza 1.8l There is a relay right above the rear support for the drivetrain. part # 22438 AAD31 DIS4-03 will my car run and drive without this relay and where can i get one other than from the dealership and pay out the rump roast. call all the local yards and no one has this.
  4. forgot to mark the camber adj bolt location. what is the best way to set the camber and what is the stock spec. thanx in advance.
  5. going to do a full re-seal and change out the front input bearing in my 5MT. What are the torque specs for the bolts on the case, or any critical bolt torque specs. I have read the writeup on it. Any other helpfull tips?
  6. do you need to oil up the engine seals to make a good seal or install them dry?
  7. no failure. the engine is out and might as well do it. Didn't leak coolant at all. just want to get the surface as perfect as i can w/o machining.
  8. no camera...sorry. i feel that if i scotch pad the hell out of it and make them dissapear that it will be way more than smooth enough without creating low spots. but what do i know? thats why the world has the USMB!
  9. i'm in the middle of replacing the headgasket on my ej18. I have used emery cloth(fine) to clean off the gasket on the head(retarted) after the fact i thought this might be too agressive on the head. am i screwed? also, i have discovered some pitting on the block but only in a few places and only on the outside of the water jacket. I can get them smooth with agressive scotch pad rubbing. Should i smooth them out or leave them and let the headgasket form to them. (don't have time to machine it/money for more rebuild stuff) thanx for the help!
  10. i am going to use my old bolts. anyone have the actual sequence and numbers for the ej18....i know they might be similar but would be real nice to get the actual numbers. i have a haynes manual but they don't even have instructions for the ej18 just ej22 so i have been following those.
  11. Could anyone give me the proper torque and sequence for the head gasket bolts for an ej18 out of a 95 impreza. how many miles do you need to retorque the bolts. Any tips for getting very accurate torque readings....? preferably out of the factory service manual...i would have one but they cost a bunch and all my money went to parts. Also, i'm going to do a full seal replacement and replacing the front input shaft bearing in my 5MT tranny and wondering if anyone had any mistakes they had made and learned dearly from/tips for the job. Do you need to prelube the bearing before you put it in? I have read the thread about replacing the front seal and it looks easy enough.
  12. i did the work myself and took about .035in. off...cleaned up pretty nice.
  13. so i'm going to resurface the flywheel in my 95 impreza today and was wondering if i have to shim the back of the flywheel when putting it back in or if i only take a small amount off will it be fine.
  14. Have list of parts that i'm looking to get for my 95 impreza. What would you all recommend for these as i'm a little hesitant to buy cheap kits. I'm looking for the best quality parts possible for reasonable prices. -Front wheel bearings and seals -Front axle: Thinking MWE -Head Gasket (got a generic ebay full gasket set but not sure if i'm gonna use the head gaskets from it) -Clutch (i'm thinking cheapo eaby for this one) -Transmission seals
  15. Just pulled the drivetrain out of my 95 impreza wagon 1.8l 5sp awd for a noise coming from the tranny/engine coupling area. After i pulled them apart i noticed that the throwout bearing made the same noise i had heard. Inspected the clutch, the reinforcement was showing through the clutch pad, it was very worn. there was a bunch of red dust all over the flywheel and the front seal on the tranny looked to be leaking. Is this red dust from the very worn clutch or the grease being burned up somehow?
  16. pretty sure all i need is the main input shaft bearing. anyone changed this out before....any tips...?
  17. how slow should you go not to F a basically new tensioner, don't want to spend another 100 bucks on something that has less than 5 miles on it.
  18. right...? the only difference is a different stroke, ie diff crank but everything else is the same right...?
  19. finally had time to listen for the sound. got a stethatscope and sounds like it is coming from the front of the transaxle. Sound goes away when clutch is pushed in. So what do you think it could be. Also, while i have the engine out and tranny apart, what should i also do, seals, ect. already planning on a new clutch and all the related components down there. looks like an engine pull this weekend!
  20. Just listened to it reving. takes about a minute or two of running above the idle rpm to start to hear it. Sounds like its coming from right under the drain plug in the transaxle. going to get a stethascope today to listen closer. I just changed the fluid and don't have the dipstick. it called for 3.7 quarts but since i don't have the dipstick i added 3.5 and was going to get a dipstick and top it off. Could this be an oil issue, maybe since it gets more noticable the longer i run the engine.
