  1. Nippon Denso are the best but some times hard to find. Their electrode alloy contains tungsten and they seem to hold their gap longer than other brands. MDR
  2. Hello, Can anybody direct me to a site to find Subaru TSB for 1998 Forester? Thanx Mark
  3. Easy Off oven cleaner will remove the yellow. Don't get any on the paint and rinse well before coating with an exterior grade clear gloss finish, acrylic or aliphatic urethane.
  4. Thanks for the response. I'm gonna try my Subaru supplied tool. A few other pointers; 1. Warm motor before unscrewing plugs, the heat expands the alloy head so the threads won't gall. 2. I always use anti-sieze on the sparkplug threads for reinstall. Locktite now offers anti-sieze in a glue stick typr push up sleeve - less messy. Mark
  5. Howdy, Does anyone know an easy way to change spark plugs on 1998 Forester w/ 2.5 motor? It sure was a bear with ratchet and 3" extension. Thanks Mark
  6. The Subaru dealer shows 2 different engine gasket kits offered for the 1996 Outback w/ 2.5 liter twin cam. There's a $100 price difference between the two. Does anybody know how these 2 kits differ? Thanks
  7. Does anyone know a good source for engine gasket kits for the 2,5l twin cam? I'm getting sticker shock from what I've found so far. $250.00 for a 34 item kit which is mostly rubber O Rings. Jeez.
  8. I'll say they can get stuck. I spent a few hours using various hooked devices then I went to the local rental place and got a slide hammer with an internally expanding jaw and whack whack, I'm done. Thanks for the post.
  9. Spark plugs can feel that way, and you're probably okay. With an aluminum head it's best to remove the plugs when the engine is warm. Reinstall in cold engine. I would also use anti-seize on the spark plugs when reinstalling. Good Luck
  10. Does anyone have any good ideas for removing wrist pins on a EJ25 motor? I gotta believe there's a better way than what's shown in Haynes. Thanks Mark
  11. Can somebody post an example of the Subaru Tech Info .pdf? I tried to sample the product from the web site. Tha 72hr pass sounds like a good idea, but I'd like to preview the product. Thanks Mark
