Throw out bearing issues. Recommendations?
Haha yeah I got the extendo magnet for Christmas cuz I have big hands and I drop pretty much every tool into the engine bay. Good thought about the starter hole. It might be a weird angle tho. I'll be pulling the engine forward and hopefully that'll be enough. I hate transmissions tho and would hope to not have to play with it. And of course I have to wait till the weekend to start anyways.

Throw out bearing issues. Recommendations?
87 XT EA82 FWD 5sp. In my haste to put in new engine etc i'm 99% sure now that I knocked the retainer spring off of my throw out bearing and now the clutch won't engage. Of course everything else I got to work it just can't get in gear. Fail. Any tips for how I should get to the bearing? I don't want to pull the engine again. Maybe slide the tranny back or the engine forward? What's best? I'm worried if I drop the tranny I won't be able to lift it back into the car haha. I know it sounds lazy. I just hate that it's such a stupid simple thing.

EA82 Cylinder head ID numbers?
EA82 MPFI cylinder heads. One says 3 Japan and the other says 5 Japan. They came from the same engine. Is there a way to tell which came from which side etc?

Injector tube replacement?
I have an 87' XT MPFI. Does anyone know where to get replacement tubes for the injectors? I was less than gentle when removing the injectors to clean them and a few of the tubes cracked. Is there a way to buy the tubes separate from the injectors? I'd really rather not spend more than I have to. If nowhere else, I'll go to my friends at the subaru dealer.

Trouble code 12: 87 XT
Yeah Zukiru it is the one you sent me, BUT it shows up on my old ECU too. That's why I didn't want to dismiss it.

Trouble code 12: 87 XT
Engine cranks but no start. I have new timing belts and they are installed correctly. (The three hash marks etc...) No warning lights are on. Just the code is flashing on the ECU. I'm assuming the starter is engaging because the engine cranks just no ignition. I have spark and air (I'm not sure if i have fuel to the cylinders) I have fuel pressure to all injectors I just don't know if they're firing and I don't know how to check if they are. I was wondering if the starter had anything else to do with the ignition process other than cranking the engine.

Trouble code 12: 87 XT
My XT doesn't start. My ECU gives me trouble code 12. Which i believe is "starter switch is either always in the off or always on position". BUT my starter works when I turn the key. I honestly don't know anything about starters besides they turn the engine to help start the car. Also, this could possibly be an old code? I can't for the life of me find the mysterious black check connector, but I can find the green one.

This XT is killing me!
"do you have the original ECU in there, or something else?" It is the original ECU "When you swapped in the EA82T motor - what intake manifold wiring did you use?" I used the turbo intake. I used the N/A fuel rail and wiring. The intake is the same between the two, minus the extra vacuum lines and coolant line to the turbo. is the wiring and ECU stock non-turbo except the Engine or did you swap other stuff? I only swapped the engine. "and exatly what EA82T did you put in there, there's a few different variations." It was a '82T out of a loyale, I don't know which version. The version shouldn't matter. It's an engine, the mechanics is all the same, it's an engine. The cams are in the right place and i put the disty in the right way, everything. I have the mechanics part down. It's a fuel to air ratio issue. My original thought was it's not getting enough air, but if you reverse the equation you can assume its getting too much fuel. Considering the difference in compression ratios between the two engine models it makes sense. the ECU is telling the injectors to stay open for longer because it thinks the comp ratio is higher. If I have a Turbo ecu it will assume the correct ratio and give the engine less.

This XT is killing me!
I believe it is an early 87 XT because it has the Reverse lights ON the bumper. The car was originally N/A and I put a turbo engine in it. The reason I'm thinking the way I am is because the N/A engine has a comp ratio of 9:1 and the turbo is 7.5:1. That being said, the stroke of the piston is less and therefore should require less gas. The N/A ECU is providing too much fuel and the engine is choking. It will start only if I have the Throttle at 100% and it gives off lots of exhaust which is the fuel not being burned. A turbo ECU should give the engine the appropriate amount of fuel.

This XT is killing me!
So my final conclusion is that I overlooked the most important thing. The ECU. The ECU i'm trying to run is non turbo. It's a turbo motor. The comp ratio is different between N/A and Turbo. I'm dumb. So I need to beg someone to ship me a EA82T ECU.

Rebuilt Justy engine pic's
That is super pretty.

This XT is killing me!
So I really have checked everything but I still have issues. The XT starts now, but... It gets to 400 rpm and then it dies. It gives off a sweet smell, like it's too rich. If it's flooding then that would explain it but, I don't know what to do to lean it out. The idle adj. screw is right in the middle, not loose, not tight. EA82T (minus the turbo) (i know it won't be as nice) 1987 XT MPFI all stock except the engine Had to swap cuz the original blew (Couldn't get another N/A at the time)

Chasing a frontend vibration, Mostly fixed 06-16
I dunno dude, I had brand new CV's on my brat and like, 100 miles later they both broke. Why? Because my wheel bearings were shot. The shot bearings can damage your axles. I had the very same oscillation of my steering wheel and it was because on of my axles had broken. Grab the middle section of your axle and try sliding it back and forth and if you hear a tapping on either side, your axle is done. Even if the boot hasn't broken.

door help...
So pretty much all you need to do is remove the door handles on the interior and the window rollers. If you have speakers, remove the face plates, and any armrest/pockets. The interior trim is fastened on by little plastic brads, if these break its only gonna cost a buck or two to replace them at any auto parts/ hardware store.
