Pretty sure mine came from that generation of legacy (95-99). If you can make it to a junkyard and measure the length of the shock tube that might help you know how much lift (approx) you will get. The springs should help some since an outback is a tad heavier than your impreza.

little inspiration. outback struts and 215/75r15 geolanders. Even with my stock tires I liked having the bigger bracket to keep the rear wheels centered. Also, I haven't had a rear sway bar for.... almost a year and I do probably 90% on road driving and its fine, bit of body roll but not near as much as my 4runner has with the swaybars.

Hey glad to help. Wish I had to drive to do more with it, but all money is going into saving for a house downpayment and diapers... bleh.

It handles decent on the freeway surprisingly. I just have no need to take it on the freeways. If I make abrupt turns or corrections I REALLY feel the bugger sway.

Stock front sways, no rear sway bar at all. I only drive in town mostly so the body roll doesn't bother me at all.

The Yokohama geolander at/s I have on my OBS have been awesome. Ahd almost a year with bad camber and such and they have very little wear on them. Great winter traction (pulled a few people out of some snow banks this last winter) surprisingly quiet on the road, and good traction off the beaten path. I have gone on light duty offroading with mine and they have performed admirably.

I have no rear sway bar and the handling is... ok. I wouldn't recommend autox thats for sure! For around town its fine. On the freeway it gets a little squirly but not too bad. I do not have camber bolts in my rear and I haven't checked my alignment because frankly, I am too cheap and I hardly drive the car as it is with fuel costs lately and the fact I work too much. I need to get some sometime I just keep hearing that they have a tenancy not to be as solid. Maybe people were wrong tho. I used my stock impreza top hats which bolted right up with the addition of a washer added. I will post pics later today about the spacing problem with the top hat or you can find my build thread.

I've only put maybe 1200 miles MAX on the trans since the last rebuild. It doesn't get driven too much since work is only 4 miles away and if I have to drive anywhere too far the wife is coming with me and I can just take her car. Longest trip its done in one shot was 70 miles on the freeway and it felt good. not the most stable... but it did its job.
Hopefully the snow stops so the roads will open and I can get back into the hills. -

The 2.2 is doing just fine pushing the car around. it can handle freeways but isn't going to set any records thats for sure. drove it down to a big subaru meet here and back just fine, then the next morning went to drive to work, made it less than a mile before the timing idler gear blew out its bearings... so Gir now has a new water pump, semi new pulleys from my wrx motor, and a new timing belt and oil change
drives great. The trans is holding up PERFECT. It drips a very small amount of oil right onto the exhaust which i need to do something about, but its a VERY small amount. I haven't done anything to the fluid since the last rebuild i posted about and when i checked the fluid a few days ago it looked brand new still and right at the perfect level. Sad news is that one of my outer cv boots got a crack in it and is starting to throw some grease, gotta get that taped up or something before it looses all the grease. Here are a few pictures for the masses.

I did the solidworks of it. but otherwise i bought the bumper as is, and had some friends who know how to weld make everything work. so it cost like like $50 in parts, and some burgers.

Next will be adding to the front bumper with some more tubing so it is covering the front of the uni-body. And then adding some steel mesh like sewer grate to prevent rocks and logs from hitting the radiator and jazz but allow for air flow. And then... I dunno. I don't think I will do a spare tire gate ever. I want to get a better gear basket sometime and I will just rock my spare tire up there (once I get one)

clutch pedal swap...? Do you mean clutch in general? I used a clutch from an xt and a flywheel from an ea81 machined to the xt specs. .91 step face or something.

really been since july since I posted anything about this thing...? man I suck. Well it daily's really good. Does freeways alright, doesn't like to go uphill loaded with people to go skiing more than 25mph. makes me want to run an extra knob to have fwd lo... but here is whats happening tomorrow.

Went up the canyon and found a tiny bit of snow, mostly slush, one big puddle, and a lot of clouds. Nothing technical, just out to see the fall colors and see what the weather was like on top of the mountain.

wouldn't anything that "lifts" the vehicles clearance be considered a lift? Some are more elaborate than others with blocks and steering extensions, and whatnot, but a lift is what it is... a lift.

Outback or forester struts do a pretty good job also. I have outback struts on my 98 obs with 215/75r15 tires with rolled fenders and it only rubs when turning really sharp. The outback struts will lift it about 1.5" and the camber isn't too bad. The rears look fine and I adjusted the front in as much as possible and they look pretty good also. Gonna get some other camber bolts for it and get an alignment done. But yeah, swapped the rear top hats, and I was good to go. Check out my build thread for all the dirty details.
